intercooler
intercooler
i just got a greddy vspl intercooler for my s13
haven't put it on yet but i was wondering when u
put it on do u have to sacrifice ur bumper support
because it looks like both can't fit at the same time
and does anyone have a diagram of all the hoses and vacuum lines that run off the intercooler and throttle body and any other hoses that would cause bad idle
i just got my swap done and it starts and sounds good right when i turn it on but then starts to idle bad

The best method is take a grinder or cutting wheel and cut of as little of the brace as you can to still make the FMIC fit. That way you don't sacrifice any reinforcement in the front end.
As for the vacuum lines, there are three on the throttle body. Two up top, one on the bottom. The one on the bottom goes to your carbon canister which if wasn't installed in your swap (most aren't) should be plugged. One of the other two(the bigger one I think) goes to your FPR and can be T'd off of if you are running a boost guage. The last one goes to your stock recirculation valve or aftermarket BOV. The only line related to your intercooler should be the signal going to the wastegate actuator. The stock coldpipe has a nipple on it. There should be a nipple somewhere on the piping of the FMIC. If not then you will have to use another source, throttle body, etc...

Haipho,
Please keep us posted on your installation. I have an S14 clip coming in with a Greddy Intercooler in it. It will be swapped into an 89 240SX. Can you post and/or send me pictures of your install when your done. I am hoping I will be able to use the S14 installation as a guide on how to swap it into the 89 240.
Good Luck!
Dane

Haipho,
Did you ever get that intercooler in? If so, please let me know how it went. I would like to see some pictures if you have them.
Thank You,
