KA24E Head Swap to KA24DE

Was wondering if this is possible? kinda sounds like the honda scene wit its b-series motors... if so wat other parts r needed?

dkdeleon Mar 21, 2007 12:23 PM

the search button is a good place to start. this topic has been discussed before.
but you will need to change front cover for fitment.

stealth_180SX Mar 21, 2007 01:40 PM

welp... search was no help in here... wat i'm really tryin to says is it possible to put a dohc head on a sohc block? there seems to b no thread about tis...

RuizXIII Mar 21, 2007 02:43 PM

I always thought this couldnt even be done...

MS!3 Mar 21, 2007 04:02 PM

possible but a pain. id just piuck up a double cam. and swap in the sohc pistons for a higher compression if thats what your looking for.

stealth_180SX Mar 21, 2007 04:32 PM

i jus want the potential from the dohc head instead of the sohc head... since its kinda basically the same block with different compression... how bout wiring? would i need the dohc harness still? reason asking is that i mite go pick up a 89' hatch wit a blown headgasket, so i'm thinkin y not swap out the head while i'm at it...

Biggamehit Mar 21, 2007 04:49 PM

i personally have seen no gains from it, so i cant speak on it bro.. save yourself the time and pick up and DOHC KA for 300 to 500 bucks.

stealth_180SX Mar 21, 2007 04:52 PM

if i was planning to swap out the motor i mite as well get a ca18 or sr20 while i'm at it... juz don't feel like taking out the whole motor yet... but soon..

Biggamehit Mar 21, 2007 04:57 PM

yea bro. that thing slides out like butter lol.... CA is a cool motor, was going to get one... then i read up on ka-t and fell for it

RuizXIII Mar 21, 2007 05:37 PM

yea I agree with Biggame, just junk the SOHC motor and install the DOHC. Freshen it up, make it feel nice and slap on a turbo for kicks.
Either that or go get a CA,etc.

It does come out rather easy tho.

Biggamehit Mar 21, 2007 07:02 PM

i have seen dyno sheets on KA-t. the single slammers appear to be very Tq. the single cam has its benefits. ill do further research on that.

RuizXIII Mar 21, 2007 07:11 PM

Yeah I guess we gotta show love to the soloists. They just feel like **** half the time cuz they are so old. When they have a mild refreshning they prob feed good. Mine had +200K so I wouldn've known ha.

stealth_180SX Mar 21, 2007 07:47 PM

i would do a motor swap but can't find ani locally... but when i do i'll probably do it unless i get my sr20 by then..

cronux Mar 21, 2007 09:34 PM

dude, you cant find a shop locally? your really close to chicago. i live 5 hours north of you, thats no where near a shop. but do some reading before you settle for sr. i personally like the CA, its a baby skyline.

stealth_180SX Mar 22, 2007 12:11 AM

wat kind shop r u talking about cronux? motor shops? salavage yards?
