limits of an rb25det?
 

What is the HP limit of a stock internal RB25DET?
And what needs to be addressed 1st once the factory guts reach their limit?

...the max u should go is id say around 450, and thats pushing it.

So stock to stock it is an inferior motor to a 2JZ?
Is the block sound enough to handle 600 whp on pump gas with the right internals?
Basically i am looking to get a 600 whp daily driver, but i dont want to have to shell out 15-20k for a 3500lb Supra.
From what I have researched the RB2.5 seems like a good solution for realative cheap speed.

it can handle..im sure 600+RWHP but im not sure if on regular pump gas, it might run a little sluggish. I would put 96 octane minimum if ur ganna have 600+ hp. And of course u will have to have the right internals for that kind of HP.

Does anyone know the limit of the RB25? I thought that the old HKS drag s13 was using the RB25 or was it the RB26?

You are trying to compare the 2JZ, to the RB25DET when it is more comparable to the RB26DETT. Twin turbo, forged internals. The 25 block can handle Massive amounts of power. As for running on pump gas, that's your computer's responsibility to make sure it doesn't knock. Why in God's name would you need 600WHP for a daily driver? You will burn your tires right off the car. I would personally start with the RB26DETT if you want that much power. I believe you can leave the block and internals alone for 600 HP.

I probably dont need 600whp seeing how the s13/14 is much lighter than a Supra.
I liked riding in my buddies SP63 powered supra, whcih made 600whp and 678 on spray.
I could probably be satisfied with 450-500, which still seems to be pushing a stock rb25. After a buch of internet research it seems that going with an RB26 might be cheaper than getting an rb25 and finding some forged internals to stuff in it off the bat.
I had a T66 powered Fc, with a haltech so I know all about having proper fuel and tuning to keep a car running right.

okay buddy, heres the deal. The rb26 swap is by far the most expensive swap on a 240 you could possibly go for. Now I don't know what your budget is like but your looking at about 10-12k for the rb26 after installation, which is around the same price you would spend on a 2jz swap. The rb25det is FAR more affordable. You would be looking at around 2-2.5k on the engine and around 2.5k for a professional installation. You will also need aftermarket or stock skyline r33 engine mounts (around 4 bills). Now, your looking at a difference in price of 5k for the rb25, and 12k for the rb26. The rb26 is by far one of the most complicated swaps around. The engine doesn't fit, and your going to have to swap out the transmission with an rb25 rwd tranny. plus engine mounts that will set you back about 5 bills. If you have lots of money do the rb26dett, but if your in the same boat as me, go for the rb25. Less hastle , less money and 250 horses off the bat..with a turbo upgrade and intake, and intercooler your looking at around 350-400hp
