New rods and pistons or s13

O kI have a question it may be stupid but I need to know. I have a 1991 240sx LE and one of the rods are bent. I need a fast but a low budget way of approaching this. Should I just get new pistons and rods and pay for laybor to fix it. Or should I just get an S13 engine swap and pay labor and shipping. I need it kinda soon and my money is low since I just got the car. Please help.

I have a 91 KA24DE (From a LE) with Hotshot Header, Injen Intake, Iridium plugs and Accel wires...with tranny I'm looking for $850 if you want a cheap fix that just drops in and has performance.

Hey, I know the situation you are in, I would not waste my time rebuilding the stock KA (I know some will disagree with me) not to say its a bad motor or anything, but If I were you I would definaltly do an SR swap. More expensive, but the end result you will be much happier with. Good Luck man!

I need to know where you live. Also how many miles.

But if you can get one for $850 dollars, I would consider it!

Yea its gonna take me a week and a half to get $1800 for the engine and then a month to wait and get it. Then most likely about $400 to swap it for labor. One good thing out of it is that I get to drive my '86 Yota lol its a piece.

Where are you going to get the swap done for $400? The going shop price to do an SR swap is like $50-$75 dollars an hour, capped at like 25 hours....

Driftmonster 02-24-2004 03:09 PM

I live in Phoenix, AZ...the engine has 160k miles on it (that I know of)...but was rebuilt recently (before I bought it) as well...extremely clean engine, runs great.....and shipping is not a problem.

inthedrift 02-24-2004 03:12 PM

Im not saying hes an expert just that he is a mechanic who has experience with engines.

NightXCZ77 02-24-2004 03:17 PM

Anyone that can change an intake on their car can pretty much install a SR or any engine for that matter....swaps really aren't too hard with the knowledge out there on them now.

inthedrift 02-24-2004 03:23 PM

What all was done when it was rebuilt. I would like to know because 160k miles is alot lol. I just need to know all what has been done to it.
