An ooooooooold debate sr vs. ka
KA24----------Vs.----------SR20

But I would still go for KA.... Now who's down with me? or who can beat me down? |
I will always stick with the KA. The only way I would get rid of it is if I got an RB.

But I would still go for KA.... Now who's down with me? or who can beat me down? first off its a KA24 not 20 its actually both american and japanese the sr20 is the aluminum not the ka the ka is the iron u got it backwards there its not hard to find a KA motor at all for me the KA motor is not turbo unless this is considered KA-T versus SR i would think the KA is pretty popular alot of people i know like it i think thats it... |
IMO
KA-T>SR20 I've always been a iron block fan |
well.... the KA would be a little heavier, but easier to get your hands on
|
id go with a KA.. +T wouldnt be bad either :D

But the downfall to the KA(for me) is that all the ones you can find have very high mileage on them plus the KA is mostly made for a truck not for a 240 plus if your planning to go bigger on horsepower the internal are better on the SR than on the KA there is a lot more torque on the KA but the KA doesnt have as much opportunity as the SR(thats the way I feel) BUt they are very good motors I would rather just save up and buy an RB. Also shouldnt this thread be in a "Motor Swaps Topic" it doesnt matter to me just thought i would add my opinions.

Yeah, a little truck engine in a small car. Gotta love it, full of torque. Once you turbo that sucker there's no tomorrow. I'm a KA fan personally. It has quite a bit of bang for a 4-cyclinder. I'll prob save up to turbo it myself.

Moved to engine swaps
|
KA = :thumb:
|
see wut i mean by the KA being popular?
both motors are popular so u cant really say the KA is unpopular |
personally I"d go KA+T, cause for one alots of parts for it to find in junkyards and whatnot, and easier on smog checks and whatnot, plus i like the nice sound of the engine as it picks up speed, and really good torque indeed, definitly for those times you need it on the freeway (Dam LA traffic)
|
the TRUCK motor!! KA:D
|
ka all the way! IMO sr's are over rated.
|
In America we get the ka24DE. many people swap it out for an SR20DET not only because the stock turbo gives the engine more umph but because its a light weight aluminum block as well. But putting a turbo in a Ka24 can be very beneficial. first off its cost efficient and our hefty truck engine comes with alot of torque and a huge displacement for a 4 cyl. engine, adding a Turbo = Fun if its done right.
SR20.........................$1,500+$690(for labor -do yourself may take you to rent tools) full Turbo kit for Ka....$1,900+$400(for labor if your lazy and you dont want to do the H.W.) |
i would go ka24det just gotta do more HW lol
|
SR all the way, i love it, it loves to be drivin around 5-6k rpm, i can push and push that mootor and it just wants more
|
WOW, there is a lot more support for the KA's than I expected. I guess the other SR supporters are tired of answering this question...
|
Or maybe the KA-T just owns. lol
|
closed cause there is no better motor just preferance.
|
one more thing the CA is better than both ;)
