OVERHEATING Problem??? SR20det

I just got the motor put in and the compression is excellent around 170 all across the baord and i have an upgraded pwr radiator, electric fan, new thermostat. but when im crusing it starts to heat up but when i get on it it cools down i have no leaks any where and it pulls hard but i dont know what is going on the thermostat we also modded by drilling small holes in to the plate so it flows better but when i touch the lower radiator hose it is cold while the top radiator hose is hot? i know it couldent be the guage, but the motor seems to sound fine when its at the h on the temp gauge PLEASE HELP I NEED TO SEE WHATS WRONG. oh also the radiator is toped off and the resivoire is also at max level.:dunno:

Water pump went bad, at least that's what it sounds like to me

take the thermostat out and try it again, I've found that the quality isn't there in alot of thermostats, as I've had 2 new ones that haven't worked right in the last few years. We did a sentra swap and ended up putting the JDM thermostat back in after the new one stuck shut and the next new one was stuck open. What we get for having everything made in china.

its a s14 body and s13 redtop i waS TOLD that the s13 temp sensor will fit the s14 harness but that, this is led to overheating issues from the dash point of view and that its not over heating its the guage reading wrong. so to swap in the s14 or 95-98 temp sensor into the s13 and plug the harness up and that this will solve the problem. anyone herad of this?

yes, I also heard it takes a 50 degree change in order for the factory gauge to move.

My friend that did a s13 redtop swap into a s14 had a giant fmic and this blocked his aftermarket radiator. So while at standstill in traffic his heat gauge would move to H. As soon as he would drive and get airflow through the fmic and radiator tho it would drop right back to normal temp. It has never affected his car's performance or wear.

Im a firm believer that you cant beat the stock shroud and clutch fan. Suggesting that someone should keep driving there car while its overheating is a bad idea.

Check the water pump. Also, on the stock engine temp. gauge on a 95 240sx. what is the temperature of the block when it goes into the red.

it could be your head gasket.
