Power Steering--> Manual Steering

I currently have power steering on my S13, when i get my swap done, is it difficult to switch to manual steering? Can i just take off the PS pump? Do i have to get a new steering rack?

no it is not difficult to switch over to manual steering. remove the pump and attached belt. then remove your power steering fluid resovoir. Follow the steel lines from the pump back to your steering rack. unbolt the lines here. turn ur wheel back and forth a few times to get out excess fluid and then cap off the holes where the lines were with some large bolts. This will provide you with an adaquete manual steering setup

why do you want to kill the power steering? in order to be in a certain race class?

you dont want an s13 witout power steering. ther eis no manual steering rack for the 240sx silvia or any other nissan that is close to it.

its a bad idea

its not much work to keep it. if youare doing RB swaps I can convert everything you need for $40, and it only takes me a few hours to do it all. SRs I thought were just a matter of wrapping the lines to the other side for the rack. for those, just get a tube bender, and flare tool and start makin some lines.

yes you can

the CA swap is jsut like a sr swap only with a different motor and a few different wires

hmm removing power steering.. makes no sense.. you can't handle a car w/it feels too sloppy.. change out the steering rack bushings.. when the motors out.. still not enough feel for you change out all the front arms.. But its your choice I will laugh when you take it out drift.. drift.. drift.. then your rack goes bad cause it dries out.. then your stuck on trying to get to car to turn while you should be focusing on your line.. Then you want Power steering again.. how do I know.. Same happened to my friend.. good thing I had and extra rack for him... so I would think about it long and hard before you decided to not use it.

my car was hardly faster with or witout powersteering

and i drove with no powersteering for 1.5 months, and anyone who says you cant control it and cant drift has not driven a non powersteering car.

yes that statement is true if your a weak person, when i first drove with no ps i found it hard to drive quickly into corners because there was so much force on the steering, but after 2 weeks i was noticably stronger and had no problem drifting or ripping threw on and off ramps.

however the reason i had no ps was because my hicas distrubution block blew at 200kph sending atf all over my nur spec and made a huge cloud of smoke.

but to sum it up, i bought a new hicas block and im fixing it over winter. powersteering is much nicer!

well if you think about it, and decide to get rid of your power steering, sell the lines and resovior to me, because im swaping a sr20 into my 89 240, and i need the power steering parts for the swap.
