SEMI-BLASPHEMOUS! But original! Will Be A BEAST!

Don't know how smart it is, but seeing as how I'm not really spending any money on it, I could care less, LOL!

Background: My bimmer's engine and transmission are both pretty much scrap worthy after some serious neglect from the previous owner. I wanted to do an engine swap, but the prices have always been killing me. I finally found hope in the form of sponsorship.

The Sponsor: Import Domestic Masters will be doing all of the grunt work.

The Racing Team: I will be driving the newly acquainted Drift 411 BMW 535i

The Donor Engine: The engine will be coming from this quarter-mile MONSTER!

The Recipient: My 89 535i with the sports package. Being worked on so please pardon the primer

I'll try to keep everyone here up-to-date with the information as it happens. Completion date is looking to be just before autumn.

Thank you!
-Dave

Definitely, thanks man! My primary mechanic was like, "So you wanna swap an engine . . .I got an engine for you, come down to the shop"

I pull up in the Grand Prix and I'm like :-O

I see this 350 mated to a turbo 400, (I know I know, auto suxors, but it'll get changed eventually) the car, when in service, ran 13's in the quarter, mated onto a BMW that translates to some very nice time trials, hill climbs, hot laps and sideways action.

The SCCA has already given me the "GO-HEAD" and my new racing team, Drift 411, has appointed me as one of their new exhibition drivers. SOOOO YEAH! Should be fun!

Thanks again for the luck man, we're going to freaking NEED IT!

That's what happens when you don't read the text my friend. The swap is being performed at NO COST to me . . . the sponsor also wants to do electronic fuel injection and twin turbo . . .it's really going to be something when done.

This is also to prove that there is more to drifting and racing life than the M5 engine, SR20DET, RB engines and LS(whatever) LOL . . .don't get me wrong, they are ALL great engines, but it doesn't take one of them to make the power you want. Granted I'd make more power immediately with an LS1 or LS6, but I'm willing to trust my mechanic's prowess on this one, I want to see where they are going. And to say that I'm not paying for the swap, just the accessories, I think I'm ahead of the game by more than 3000 dollars out of the box!

lol. That 305 is pushing maybe 145hp in that thing. The edel carb prob gives it what, 5 hp?

The bimmer was probably faster with the original engine.

HAHA! Yeah, but it's not a 305, it's a 350, I had the numbers run.

This engine was built for quarter mile and used to power that little car around, the previous owner just didn't take the interest in it anymore and had the car scrapped, but as you can see from the pictures, he took his accessories and most of his bolt ons with him . . . .it still has tons of potential however and I feel that my sponsors will be able to make the most of them.

Stock for stock, the 350 vs the M30B35, yeah, the Bimmer engine would reign supreme. But once this engine is complete, there's going to be nothing quite like it and that's what my racing teams and sponsors are looking for.

Wow, thats the exact same quote I was thinking about when I first saw this thread. It's gonna be a drift beast. Is that stock BMW block aluminum or iron? Its gonna be a significant weight jump isn't it? But still, I hate how everybody thinks horsepower is everything. Back in the 80s, GM V8s DID lack horsepower, they had something like 175hp for a 5 liter engine, which is pretty bad, but nobody ever mentions that these motors still had 250tq.

my Camaro had a stock 305 at first and it had 165hp but 295ft lbs of torque . . .ridiculous!!!!

But yeah, it's going to be a torquey monster. The stock BMW block is Iron with an Alum head. LOL! Head!

The stock 350 has significantly more hp and a lot more torque . . .I really want to see what it's going to be like after the EFI and boost. It's making me all giddy just thinking about it.
