sr swap updated pics

well it now spring time and everyone around here is putting there cars back on the road except me I finally found an SR and it should be here by Friday! I paid a bit more then I wanted too but its hand picked and garneted to be under 50,000kms. My buddy also picked 1 up out of the same batch of 13 engines. Comes with ecu, uncut harness, igniter, maf, stock intercooler, JDM cluster, after market bov. I'm hoping it might have some other upgrades done to it since it already has a bov. I'll post pics as soon as it comes in. I will see if I can figure out how to post the pics properly this time.

I bought this intercooler on ebay, 21"x9"x3" core size. and thats my cat Blitz, He like to play with it alot so I had to box it back up, I was worried he would bend some fin's.

I used to rock the 56K. My friend asked me if I had the internet. I said yes. I then told him that I had a 56K. He then told me that I didn't have access to the real internet. I was being pissed on in the kiddy pool.

Anyway the pic of your car. Is that "shop" your garage or an actually preformance place. Because I'd definetly rock that as my garage but if that's what the preformance shop looks like you may have some difficulties. Keep the Updates Comin!!

Thats in the back of my Dads Motorcycle shop. He wrecks bikes, sleds, ATV's, ect. The SR's just got in, there not what they told us they would be. So we are having some problems, will update in a bit.

Well we paid with a money order, and the motor set's came through a company in Alberta (I wont say the name untill this is done). Any ways we were told that they had 13 hand picked engines with 50,000kms or less (the owner him self went down and hand picked these). They were to include side mount intercoolers and maf, uncut harness, trans, original clusters, ect. So we paid $1000 down to hold the engines for us (they were still in route from Japan). Anyways they finally got here about a month later and 1 has a blown turbo with dirt through out the engine and has a bad #3 cyl I will update after work tomorrow I got to go to bed

Well the 1 engine will be on its way back Monday. The other engine turned out to be very good. Once we pulled it apart we saw that the internals were mint! No rust or corrosion, and no oil coming from the turbo. We did a compression test and it was 150 all the way across. leak down test was 6%-10%. Here are some pics:

engines in the truck

The bad engine ready to ship back, to bad cuz it was a newer SR with the fins on the head.

The good engine on the stand

Tear down

I need to order a clutch and I have posted my question in the drive train forum, I'm not sure if I should trust the Nico Furoms and order the 89 maxima clutch?

Did some more cleaning this weekend. took off all the heat sheilds around the turbo.

Dirty T-25

I wanted to clean the block up so I used some solvient(?) worked fairly well.

but It wasn't as nice as I would have liked. So we painted the block. My Pops paintin away!

here is how it turned out

The Pullys and manifold were lookin a bit rusty so we fixed that up (I know the manifoild will burn the paint off after a bit but oh well, I used stove paint).

If I'm posting to many pics just let me know and I will delet some.

later days........Josh

If you're gonna use that stock manifold you need to either cermaic coat it to lower the temp or put those heat shields back on or find another way to block the heat, otherwise at high boost you're gonna melt your MC . . something to think about.
Looks good otherwise, better than my SR block.

no man don't worry about the pics. No mod in the world on a 240sx forum will hammer you for posting pics of your swap in progress. Just look at the off-topic section. If they were worried about pic space, believe me they'll start there. But keep with the updates!!
