sr20 and rb20 quetions.. i need help....
ok guys i know this question has been asked before... but im a newbie... ok like i said in another post my car is going in the shop in a couple weeks and i was gunna get the sr20... but i just read a forum were u guys and girls were debating the whole rb20 is better than sr20.. how hard is it to get parts for the rb20???? how hard is the install??? does everything line up? engine and tranny mounts???? and last but not least any good places in michigan to do ths swap??? what do u guys think??? and will i have more money in the long run to spend on the rb20???? im confused and need to figure this out.... thanks alot.... sorry if everyone is pised off for asking this stupid question again....

o and would it be the same amount to do like an rb25 swap??? or is that a much harder swap????

...I guess i will help a noob out. Even though it would be better to get all this info on your own.
SR20=$2500 minumum RB20=$1200-$2100 You can find parts at phase2motortrend.com, i belive unstable-hybrids.com has some, rbmotoring, ebay...hell search on google and you might find some extra parts. The install is pretty simple, the only thing different for the install then a SR is switching the corss-members with the R32 Xmember. The fit will be close to perfect, there will be a lil sway bar rubbing and maybe turbo elbow rubbing...a little shaving will take car of that. All the mounts line up if you use the R32 xmember, no prob. Yes you will have more money to spend if you go RB20, and also have more potnetial! hope i helped ya out |
The RB25 is about 2100 dollars more, and takes more modifications to get it in.

what kinda mods are we talking? mounting points???? and do u know o any places in michigan or aruond mich. that can do the swap??? thanks alot.....

You mean for the RB25? Well you need a custom driveshaft, can cost you from 300-500. The wiring is more difficult, and you can use the R33 cross member

ha damn i guess i could ship my car out to phase2 herd they are the ****..do really nice work fast to.... so you think i sould rb20??? that is a str8 6 stil right or a 4 banger??? im pretty sure its a 6... i just need to get this figurd out cause i would love to have a silvia engine in my silvia ya know????? anyone can drop a skyline engine into there car and be like oooo my car's faster.... it dosent give u any challenge.... and im looking to only push 500 hp to the wheels i can do it with the sr easy... cant i???? lol... i need reassurance.... thaks for all your help...

The RB series is I6, id rather have a RB in there but thats just me. And no you cant get 500 at the wheels with the SR easy, you will have to do quite a lot of internal mods to get up there. SRs are trustworthy up till 375hp, when you get around 400 i would upgrade interanls. With the RB20 you can get a good 425-450hp on stock internals and be in the "safe" zone. For the RBs, mckinneymotorsports.com is the place to go man. And no prob:thumb: im here to help people out

whats the best aftermarkt parts i should spend the other $5000 on??? is there a a list of things i should most deff do first before anything else??? thanks...

wow 5k...there are so many things you can do. Suspension mods, turbo upgrade, interior, paint, wheels/tires, exhaust, bov, FMIC, upgraded injectors, upgraded fuel pump, downpipe, brake upgrade. Things that are recommended when you do any swap, upgrade fuel pump, boost gauge, turbo timer, oil pressure gauge, radiator upgrade, new belts.

in your opinion what wuld be the first things u would install on the engine???? i got the boost gauge and air/fuel ratio gauge.. yea but first things u would attack first.... rather itbe interior or exterior... thank for all your help.....

If i had the money, i would upgrade to a FMIC first. Bigger downpipe, exhaust, BOV, intake filter, clutch...thats all i can think of now. Oh a short shifter wouldnt hurt either, a short shifter for a KA or SR would work, they are all interchangable
