SR20DET Question
i was just wondering if an SR20DET from the S15 fit in a 89-94 240sx.
|
im not 100% sure but i think it will..There will be sum modifications but i think it will fit. I think it will be a better fit if u do it in a S14..Arent there engine bays a little bigger?
|
i think they are, but im planning on doing a sileighty look on my car. not really a big fan of the s14s, too much money used.
|
sileighty-look has nothing to do with the engine fitting in the bay :nono:
it will fit, not sure about the engine mounts, you need a custom driveshaft and the S15 rear diff (speed sensor for S15 is in the diff). it's a tad more complicated than that, but i haven't really researched it too thoroughly... |
THE ANSWER YOU NEED.....
HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION ON THE ENGINE FITMENT ITSELF TAKEN FROM WWW.SRSWAP.COM
AS FOLLOWS... "Fitment: The engine and transmission will fit into 95-98 S14 US 240SX chassis with minor modifications to the transmission mounts. The differential is needed as the speed sensor is located there. The S13 chassis (89-94) requires more work. The driveshaft has different mounting location from the S14 / S15 chassis. Custom work must be done." .http://www.srswap.com/pics/gallery/s15sr_close.jpg BASICALLY WHAT IT'S TRYING TO TELL YOU IS THAT YOU BETTER HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR NOT ONLY THE ENGINE, BUT FOR THE CUSTOM WORK TOO LOL. YOUR CHOICE. |

the s14 kouki slant top sr is basicly the same motor. there was 2 different s14 sr motors. the ecu is different and it doesnot have a six speed tranny. alittle more tunning in the ecu and i think some other minor thing was done to it but can't recall at the moment. i would just go for the s14 kouki slant top sr. alot cheaper.
the six speeds are good tranny's but can be kinda odd at times. and if you prefer drift set up then IMO a 5 speed would be better. in the option video silvia/180sx super tuning. they do this swap. but they also use s15 rear subframe and control arms and do alot of cutting and welding on the whole car. it's starts out as a club Q car. auto sr20de. then NOB goes out to track and runs into kouguchi and spanks DAT ASS. some really good drifting in that part. check it out some time. |
I think I might have to try and put an s15 SR in my car....hmmm:spin:

why's an S15 SR20 better then the S14 or S13?

IT'S JUST THAT OBVIOUSLY LATER MODELS REQUIRE MORE MODIFICATIONS TO BE MADE. |
um no. what's the difference mechanically?if you have a 91 240 why can't you stuff it with a S13 motor and mod it past 250HP?
|
Uhhh, red top has high flow head, the black top does have more hp, 250, but has a constricting head flow design...the red top has more potential, it just has a smaller turbo(t25 vs t28). Do yourself a favor and get a better and cheaper red top. (plus they look so cool).
