Is there really a power advantage between RB25 and Rb26 engines?
 

OK, I know that from the factory the RB26 is a monster engine, and has the twin turbo application. On the other hand the RB25 is also a very strong engine, with power capability way higher than most will take it and the clip is much cheaper.

If you were going to swap you KA24 out and put and RB on would you save the additional money for the 26 or you would go with the 25 and build upon that one??

Thats a easy question...RB25 all the way. With the extra wut 2 grand? You can do SO much to the RB25 that will surpass a RB26 in performance wise and it will be the same price as a RB26.

If I had the money to spend, I would get the RB26DETT just for the cool factor.

Since I am not Bill Gates, I chose the RB25DET.

f**k that if i had the money i would get the rb26dett and the whole damn car that comes with it for the cool factor!
the difference between an rb26 and an rb25 to most isnt gonna mean ish basicly opening your hood to show off your motor that came out of a skyline period is cool factor enough for most plus the fact that you'll be eating v8s alive left and right. so really the extra 2 grand is more worth it on the 25 in my opinion

I just need to find a cheap 1995 car, I'm in no hurry so I will look carefully to get the best for my money ,since I ain't no Bill Gates Either. But some day I will!!!!:D

It's really a question of what you want to do in the future.
If you plan on making less than 500HP then go with the RB25. If you want to go past that then you might want rebuild the motor with forged internals and do something about the tranny, because the RB25 tranny's are known to go out after the 600HP range. You could take your stock tranny some where and get it cryo treated or get an aftermarket tranny such as Nismo.

The RB26 would be around $2k extra, but you need to remember that the motor is twin turbo and the twins are capable or making about 500HP. The internals on the RB26 have been taken up to 800HP to the wheels, so that probably around 900HP to the flywheel.

I have the RB25 in my 240sx and love it. The motor is strong and they are capable of throwing down 650HP on the stock internals. It is a single ball bearing turbo ( like the T28), but it is a ceramic turbine wheel and has a glue like substance that holds the shaft to the wheel, so when turned past 1bar (15psi) the turbo will eventually brake apart the glue, due to the extreme heat that the turbo lets out and will brake the turbine wheel loose and spit it out of your exhaust. So really you only can make around 320HP on the stock turbo. Upgrade the turbo and you will be seeing some good numbers.

I choose the RB25, because it is a cheap swap and the motor is incredible. If I had the money, who knows what I would go with, maybe the RB25 head and the RB30 block, if not that the probably the RB26. There is really no comparison with the two motors. The RB26 is by far the best, but the RB25 is right behind it.
