From what I've heard from a Black top SR owner I know, he loves it. Makes the SR a lot more drivable since it has a broader powerband.

see i have haerd most sr owners replaced the parts that give you the vvt. im not sure which part. im not advanced in sr's yet

Actually, A lot of Tuners in Japan take it out. It doesn't add ne mroe power. And it really is just some that can mess up and another thing to worry bout. I'd just go wit a S14 SR. and upgrade Injectors and Mayb tha turbo and u'll either get more power then tha S15 Sr or just bout tha same.

s14 motors has vvt. and if you are going to upgrade injectors and turbo start with an s13 the s14 already has bigger injectors and a t28 turbo dont pay for something better if u r gunna take it out

I like VVT-makes a more drivable engine, BUT I think the price difference in the SR swaps isn't worth it. Everyone dying for S14 and S15 swaps that are almost double the cost of Redtops for another 45HP at the most. It does make it harder to tune too because just like the honda VTEC stuff there are 2 curves to tune, and the transiton to deal with.
