WTF Help?

I am working away hooking up the tranny remove transmission fluid lines that need to be replaced heater hoses and i look at the aiv valve piping and it is pretty much crushed up against the steering column.

NO WHERE DID I SEE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PIPING BEING IN THE WAY OF THE STEERING COLUMN.

WTF

I know about the turbo heat shield can contact the steering column under load but wtf. AIV valve?

now i need to let it soak in WD-40 to get the rusted **** off. grr i hate cars.

Yeah the AIV system needs to be removed. Probably be best with the engine out of the car. Plus it's a ***** to do. I cut the pipe and put a socket over the hex part to take it off. Then you have to plug it. Which BTW I have an extra AIV plug from Heavy Throttle if you want it. Dunno why but they set me 2... got one for free.
I think it's pretty ironic though you knew about the heat shield and not the AIV pipe, cause I did the oppisate just last weekend. Knew about the AIV, but didn't remember about the heat shield. Only one bolt made contact though, so I just removed that and it seems fine now....
