240...10's? Possible?

Hey, I'm looking at getting a 95 240sx se coupe. The car has 65k miles 5spd. and in good condition. They are asking $5500....is this a fair price? If not what would be?

Now to what I want out of the car/any car .......I want to run low 11--high 10 sec. 1/4 times with A/C, P/S etc. I want to have a car capable of slaloming 70+ mph and brakes within 110ft.

I know every part would need to be replaced, much like any other car in the 5k range, but what all would I need to accomplish these goals? Some prices would be nice too I'm also considering a 5.0 Mustang, DSM, EG hatch, LS1......

Anyone?

DSM or that Stang will probably be your cheapest route to attain those goals. Talk that guy down to $5000 cash and you've gotten yourself a GOOD deal

I paid 900 for my 92 . The dealer wanted 2200 . The timing chain guide was making the slappin noise and the dealer didn't know what it was so I told him it was gonna be somethin real serious to fix and was able to talk him down :-)

I paid $4250 for my '95 SE and it has 5 speed and only 72,500 miles on it when I bought it last May. I now have 81,141 on it and haven't replaced anything but normal maintenance items(i.e. fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, tires, battery, etc.).

wanting to run 10 or 11 seconds with a 240 is a tall order... i mean a seriously tall order... first off... brakes... swap in the 300zx brakes mc and prop valve... that will get you down to around 110 ft stopping distance... here is the info on that...
http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm#compare

next is the engine... swap is what im thinking... sr rb vgtt with a lot of mods done to the motor... i mean a lot... you are going to be needing 500 (at least)and up in the hp area... this is no small tasj as far as the hp goes... it aint cheap to go into the 10's... there are enough links on that subject...

traction will be your biggest problem when you get that much power... the 240 is light and will be fun to launch with that much power... slicks and a built rearend...

then there is the fun things like roll cage... at some of the tracks i raced at... if you ran 10.999 you had to have at least a 4 point cage in the car... racing harness and all that fun stuff...

The fastest KA24DE (non-turbo, this isn't a spelling error) in America runs like a 11.27 in the quarter mile. I believe the guy's name is Steve. My best bet would be doing a swap with like a SR or RB. All I can say is plan on spending more than $15,000..

I think a DSM would be easier to reach your goal in getting a low 11 or high 10.

if ur going for 10'/11's id recommend a rb25det or a rb26dett.....alot harder swap but alot more power can be obtainted.....rb25 is good for up to like 600 or so...reliable....rb26dett is good for up to like 1000...only problem is u got to use a rb25det tranny otherwise u got to convert ur car to awd.......and rb25det would need to be replaced or strengthend cause it cant handle the power past like 600 or something i forget that number exactly....but its not gonna be cheap.....

rb25: you can get for like 2500, but u need other parts for the swap that add up..ie motor mounts, downpipe, turbo timer, things that ought to be replaced ie spark plugs, new oil pan if urs is dented...and u need to figure out the wiring if ur gonna do it urself

rb26:cheappest ive found was like in the 3000 range......this is also alot harder swap...ur gonna need all the regular parts for a swap and maybe a few extra, and also there arent alot of oem parts available for it...so if u **** up ur oilpan ur gonna have to spend for ever trying to find one or ur gonna have to buy one by like greddy or something.....

if ur looking for those times...like it was said before....u better be willing to spend alot of money

thats true Devious KA left the video in another thread.......
that NA KA isn't all NA, it also uses FI NOS.
It doesnt have stock internals either.........

Real simple way to hit 10's and 11's is to turbo charge and progressive NOS injection the KA...
The dimequarterly guys are doin that

10s shouldnt be too hard...rb26dett swap and some twin 2835s...rebuilt rear end and drag axles, good sus., stripped to hell and back, and some wrinkle-walls should do the trick.

its very do-able, but you are looking at alot of work and money. and then after so many passes things start to break REAL quick, thats a common thing when you get over 100hp per. cycl. i'd get a s14 if i were you. s13's are everywhere and mustangs are too.
i got my 240 for FREE!! i had to pay to get it from the tow guy:200 bucks and im REALLY happy w/ it, even though i already got a cnr w/ it(careless and wreckless) 2wks after i got it on the road

and dude dont get a dsm, get something that will be fun and actually require a little skill to drive, i.e.:can a dsm do donoughts/drifting like a rwd? NO!, all you do is:1.rev 2.drop clutch @ green light 3.stand on gas 4.change gear and repeat 3&4 until done

besides a dsm is unreliable & VERY exspensive to maintain, you dont wanna have to replace a awd tranny.

Well, about the DSM, what I hear from most people who have 1 is "i spend more time fixing my car then driving it", and they horrible transmission when hitting that barrier.

http://www.web-cars.com/math/qtr_mile.html

Thats a acceleration calculator, it may not be 100% accurate but its close.

Dont know if you can hit 10s with A/C and PS still in car. Are you planning a Daily driver in the 10's. Oh yeah, on Sr20det you can fit t76 and t88s. But, they are only 2.0 liters so. But, if that was my goal (10s) i would prob go with the rb26dett.
