240sx vs m3
Anybody here ever raced an m3. I was wandering how much work it would take to beat an m3. Do you think a 240sx turbo making about 250 horsepower would be able to beat an e36 m3. How about a g35.
...m3's are quick. and g35's are heavy as hell... but still quick.
i don't know.- who would win? Rocky or Bruce Lee? -what kind of turbo? on what engine? what other mods? how many psi.? stock M3? mods? also 250 at the wheels or crankshaft? -i hate these kinds of questions.
its a general question Relax, if you are goin to be a l337 ass then dont post a reply. I would say no, an m3 can do over 160mp/h so even a 250 hp 240 depending on engine specs probibly couldent keep up, if you put down 300 ish HP to the Wheels then yes. I love M3's if I had the euro car bug Id buy one.
so 160mph... so are u talkin bout a drag race or a wangan run? g35's are slow...m3's are ok but ive eaten a few of them in my day..
Straight sixes make great low-down torque. You'd have to have a really good tuning job with the turbo to get the low-down torque out of the 240's four-cylinder.

Old M3= 333 crank horsepower
Good engine, so assume low drivetrain loss of ~15% That's like 280 wheel or so, on a car that weighs 3415 curb weight That's about 12.2 lbs/whp Now take a 240 that weighs about 2750 curb weight... divided by 12.2 lbs/whp is ~225 whp..... Now obviously, we all know that a 225 whp 240 is NOT going to beat an M3, especially because of the low end torque, However, I would wager that ~250 whp or so would do the trick People with ~250 whp 240s run in the mid to low 13s, which is exactly what an M3 runs (roughly 13.3 or so) Final Answer....I say if you make 250 at the wheels and can drive, you can keep up with an M3 prolly on the 1/4, probably not at higher speeds |
either way there are too many unnacounted variables. it's fair to say that they would both loose, because drag racing doesnt prove anything about the driver's ability to perform in other settings... like it would on a closed circuit.

I don't think the 240 stands a chance in the handling area, but the m3 doesn't have 330 crank horsepower the european version does but the american version doesn't even have 280 crank horse power, maybe 250 crank.
Hahahahaha hahahhahah
hahahhaha hahahhahaha Ok, anyone that says the M3 doesn't have 333 crank horsepower has no clue what they are talking about. Go to any website and check it out....it's obvious. Also, with suspension mods, a 240 could easily outhandle an M3. Are you kidding? "The american version has 280 crank" haha.... The new Nissan Maximas have like 270 crank, and weigh like maybe 400 lbs more than an M3....you are telling me they have similar power and run similar times? Surely you must be joking around |

Sorry I didn't read that he said E36....the new ones are 333 whp, then the 2008 ones are gonna be discustingly powerful V8s
My friend in his S13 with an SR putting down 230ish hp at the wheels whoops on E36es.
Yeah definitely on those, I can see the SR winning
I think with ~250-260 whp, a 240 up against an E46 would be a decent race |
i know its gonna sound like garbage. but i beat some smart ass who had a 5 speed 95 m3. he was pretty pissed when the fat kid out drove him. i dont think he knew what he was doing.
