Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I just have to vent.

November 05 I have to replace my timing chain...That's not so bad just 3 days and $200-300.

The other day my car is making a weird whinning noise. I think it's the water pump. I park my car at the house and go in another car to get a water pump and all the miscelanious parts for that job. I put the parts in my car and I'm about to drive my car to the shop so I can fix this problem. I turn on the car, still has the whinning noise, throw it in reverse, turn on the headlights and then she DIED. She won't start up again.

I end up replacing the water pump in the parking lot. I go to crank the car and nothing still dead. I drain my battery trying to crank the car. After a few attempts and the battery draining really quickly I realize hey I need a new battery. I return it to Advanced auto parts and they said yep it's bad here's a new one. I bring the new battery home and it is draining really quickly. Everything is pointing to the charging and starting systems of the car.
Everything works out fine. So what is the problem???

I am so pissed off right now.

The car cranks but wont turn over. The spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and wires are new. I have fuel I have spark so what is wrong? Hey this is starting to sound familiar...Na it can't be I just replaced my timing chain it can't be the timing. So I take off my valve cover to take a peak to see if my chain is loose. It is...I wonder why so I start to look a little bit more. My guide has fallen off the only problem is the rubber wasn't old enough to dryrot and break apart. The guide has like balled up between the chain preventing it from rotating at the speed it needs.

I go to Advnaced and I ask hey that timing set has a warranty does that cover the guides. The guy is like yeah just take off the old one bring a receipt and pick up the new one. I'm like cool but what about all the gaskets, oil, and antifreeze that I'm going to wind up re-replacing because of this? He kind of laughs and says that the Timing chain is covered not all the miscelanious stuff.

damn man. sucks

Oh yeah it sucks. Since I can't seem to find a pair of needle nose pliers long enough to grab the piece of rubber I have to tow my car to the shop where I'm going to do the work. I am so pissed. I have to try to take leave this week so I can work on my car and all this other BS.

I'm not so sure I want to go with the same company for the new timing kit. Does anybody know of any good kits out there?

well I was talking to this guy I know who is ASE certified and he said that the only way for that to of happend would be if the car had been running hot.

sorry to hear that... sucks having your work f'd up by some unkown unforeseen factor... though the picture did make me chuckle a little bit for some reason.. kinda in that "something THAT simple is causing it not to run?" way. Hope it all goes well with your KA.
