aluminum flywheel...yay or nay?
i just got 700$ from some idiot who hit my car while parked at mobil. the only damage is paint, so i'm just going to hide it with some touch-up paint and use the cash for a clutch.
so...do i get the flywheel (~$300-350) or not? money is very tight right now, as i will be attending college in the fall. i would like to do some worth-while mods with the money and i'm not sure if the flywheel is worth it. comments/suggestions? |
I just got my clutch/flywheel put in, it feels so good. Act clutch kit/Fidenza flywheel. Go for it.

Originally posted by Limited240sx The lightened flywheel would be a good choice. It frees up gobbs of horsepower and will definately help low end. I'd say go for it as well. |

Originally posted by spitz7985 lightened flywheels don't give you any horsepower. all they do is give you better throttle response and allows your car to rev easier. |
The weight FREES UP horsepower

FREES UP. not GIVES. R-E-A-D

i'm sorry if i was a little unclear. by 'gives' horsepower, i meant that you will see no horsepower gain after installing a lightened flywheel. no need to be an ass, ass.

IF it was me, As a Lighter Flywheel Only improves Rev's and there are no other mods on my car to make it worthy, I WOULD buy a CenterForce DF clutch or ACT and JWT ECU.
Then I would match and smoke any other 240sx that has a new Clutch, Lightened Flywheel.. GAURANTEED>>> :bigok: But, that's just me.. OH to give some Facts to it..... Fidanza Flywheel will decrease rotating mass and wieght. This equals faster spin up of the engine, helping produce quicker RPM. The gain, if any in performance, comes from less mass ONLY. TRUE HP gain= 0. Ability to use existing HP = better JWT ECU completely changes the Curve of the Engines operating sensors and input feeds. Allowing more fuel and Air for better burn, removes the .5sec detent on throttle, removes the Retard in Timing associated with smog requirements for lean run on acceleration at ANY speed. True HP gain= 12HP at the tires. Ability to use existing HP=BEST. Just my view.. :thumb: |
I have a SPEC lightened flywheel and it makes the truck motor feel a lot more sporty. I had it on my first 240 and then when i got my second one and drove it around with the factory flywheel, i had to change it almost immediately to a lightened flywheel, and now it feels back to "normal" I recommend it :thumb:
