Question Battery charging

Hi,

I have a question re: charging the battery. I haven't driven this car ('89 240 sx coupe) for about a year and the battery is flat.

Is it okay for me to just charge it and start it right away or is there something I need to watch for?

Thanks!

Lexi

I was going to make a comment about how this has nothing to do with engine swaps, but I won't. Just start the damn car, battery might be completely dead, may need to buy a new one. The horror.

before charging you might want to check the water level. and then let it set on the charger for awhile and see if it will work. mine set for a little longer than a year and i put water in it and charged it and it worked so goo luck!!

yeah thats about it, It might take several minutes to charge up and start, depending on the type of charger etc.

Umm yeah s13 240, I get that it has nothing to do with engine swapping but in the absence of anyplace more fitting to post it, I chose this thread!

I'm new here and unimpressed by your rude post (from a moderator no less). Besides, you missed the point...

tehott240 and RuizXIII

Thanks for your responses. I will check the water level etc. I was just going to have it charged but a guy friend of mine suggested I find out if it's ok to just start like that since it's been sitting so long. He said something about the alternator...

I'm planning to sell it soon so just wanted to make sure I don't mess something up (I don't know much about cars).

dont see why you got so mad, he barely even flamed on you, and chances are if your asking a question about charging a battery you might get flammed even if it is in the right section.

Not that it matters, but I'm pretty sure this Lexi that you all are talking about is a Ladyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Notice how she said "a guy friend of mine" and how she was overemotional about the not-so-flaming.

Just thought I'd point that out

I don't post on forums a lot, but on ones I've used usually people are polite to each other (especially to newbies) - maybe this one has a tougher crowd.

Either way, no big deal

Bravo sir, you have single handedly posted the most sexist remark I have ever seen on these forums. I bet all the ladies love you.

Lexi, if you couldn't find a more fitting place to put a question about a car battery than the engine swap section, you should maybe rethink a few things. It seems that your battery question is a fairly general question, which, last time I looked anyways, has its own separate section. So, in turn, what I am going to do is, move this thread there. As for my comment being rude, I'm sorry, first impressions is the last thing I am worried about right now. I have a great deal of things going on and whether you like me or not is not something that I will lose sleep over, I'm sorry.
