Just did timing chain and nismo motor\tranny mounts on my buddys 1990 KAE hatch. when i got the motor lowered on to mounts i realized there is sumthing electrical towards the rear of the head\valve cover that got broken against the fire wall when the motor was hoisted up. i have no idea what it is. can anybody tell me what this is?
first pic is of broken connector. second pic where it goes and the third is the same style connector that is to the right of the one i broke. any ideas?

also after i got it all put back together the water pump is leaking hardcore from what looks to be a hole that is in the bottom of it just behind where the pully connects.
i searched and didnt find anything. in the chiltons(i know garbage) i have it shows the hole in the pump in the figures but nuthing about it or anything about leaking. does it just need to be replaced or does it need a gasket or sumthing i missed?

I don't know what that connector is for but you can just replace it if i'm not mistaken. as for the water pump get a new one. it's 30 bucks and has a lifetime warranty from advanced.

yea decided to change the pump.
anyone ? connector? is it just smog garbage or is it needed? if its smog its fine he plans to strip it all anyways when going ka-t.

i honestly have no idea. But i noticed mine wasn't connected once. So i connected it, no change. Dis-connected it, no change.

No idea what it is, but i don't think its too important. I've driven it both ways with the prupose of trying to find out what it does, and i couldn't come up with anything.

What that connection leads to is the SCV controller. Without it the SCV's are disabled. Just go and gaffle another from the wrecking yard. If I was looking at it correctly it is a brown connector box, if so that is to the SCV....

actually its the green one next to the brown one. i took a picture of the brown one in reference to what the one i broke should look like.
