car starting issues
my car is having issues with starting sometimes. Like before it was because my terminal was coroded about 2 and a half inches, got that fixed... but i still face the problem of sometimes it doesnt start on my first turn. I figured i have to pump the clutch an extra one or 2 times then it starts and then even then sometimes the rpm starts dropping dropping and the car dies again. So to compensate for that i give it a small rev to keep it from dropping... anyone know what these problems are and how i am going to go about getting it fixed.

descibe what happens when you turn the key, do you hear, smell, or notice anything?
|
uhmmm no smell, well when it doesnt start i turn it on and everything shuts off i dont really hear anything. Then when i pump the clutch twice i i turn the key it starts, it revs to like 1.5 then starts dropping real quick unless i hold the key turned in the ignition or give it some gas to keep it from dropping to zero and dying.

is it automatic or 5 speed?
|
it is 5 speed

ok then, pumping the clutch does nothing other than close the circuit for the inhibitor switch. if you have to press down a few times then more likely that nor you need to replace that switch.
i'm curious about the idle, what other information can you think of regarding it? |
not much of a car guy so where and what is the inhibitor switch so i can get that checked out and now about the idling. I don't really know too much, all i can say is there are times when it starts idling low and then almost dieing but it comes back up n drops n comes up slightly n sits and is okay. Though ussually it drops and dies like that when it is the first start of the day or when in about a 3 hours time i start it up. I think it may be when its not warmed up it does that. Ussually that doesnt happen if i have been driving it for a while.

the inhibitor/interlock switch is behind the clutch pedal, there's really not much to check out on it so i recommend you just buy a new one. the easy answer for the idle problem would be a faulty iacv since it's a common problem, but i'm not convinced that that's your problem. you should check the ecu for trouble codes, even if the cel doesn't come on, there may be a fault.
