Cross Drilled Rotor install

Thought you guys might want to see the damage report on my rotor install found out that when I took off the right front the caliper was locked into the old rotor. You can literally see the steel shaved from the rotor......

Installing the new rotors was simple...
Take a clamp to each caliper to open them up, that way you don't have to bleed the lines.........
These are the brand pads that I am using.........

This is what it looked like after I put the new rotors on........
I was able to free up the frozen caliper to rotor with some WD40...
Then I pushed on the pedal a few times while KEV got the grime out. " So technically a little bleeding was needed to the right front caliper".....
It brakes on a dime now......

Biggamehit Jun 27, 2005 04:57 AM

very nice, i just got some slotted drilled rotors the other day.

What kinda tool did u use to take out the large phillips screw that holds the rotor in place.

I was simply going to put a lil heat on it and use a very large phillips

here are mine

Actually you might find this kind of funny but the Non ABS don't have screws. The rotors came right off, "Well the front rotors came right off at least", you can see in my first pic the rotors originally didn't come with LOCK SCREWs. The rear discs were a mutha to work with and do have lock screws and cotter assembly holding it in place came right off though, I thought I would of been out in an hour it almost took 2 to get all the work done....
I used a 90degree pnuematic drill with bit......
How much did you spend, I only paid $90 for my full set of rotors............

Biggamehit Jun 27, 2005 07:00 PM

they were frree i got them from a friends recked 240 for fixing his car

they were never used

what are some good pad to go for

BigVinnie Jun 27, 2005 07:08 PM

Well as far as performance pads go, I bought the CBK semi metalics for the front. So the front end would stop on a dime.
I bought cheap organics for the rear so that I can do standstills, drifting, and burn mmmmmaaaaaddd rubber, I didn't wan't the rear to lock up at all. But rather just ride smooth especially on the release of e braking............
Just my 2 cent's.
But if you really want to stop on a dime you can go with the z31 dual caliper upgrade that fit the s13. Bigger brakes that you can buy cheaper pads, like raybestos brake pads..........
Damn you can never beat free rotors, you lucky S.O.B..
Just kiddin' on the SOB

very well, im also getting steel braided lines and converting to dot5.

BigVinnie Jun 27, 2005 07:32 PM

DOT 5?????? I only thought there was a mix of DOT 3, DOT3/4, and DOT4, didn't know that there was a DOT 5..........

The company called Magnum who I bought the rotors from on ebay also sells steel braided brakelines in the set of 4 for 69.99, I think they were asking for $15 shipping.

yea man when i seen it , it was new to me. my sponsor had some. its purple and redline makes it. he had to waste an entier bottle which cost like 20 bucks, to flush the system. It also works very very good under hard braking on autocross style courses.

yea i seen those braided lines. im getting them I also read about putting a z32 mastercylinder into a 240. I might be doing that as well.

cheap mods that make a difference is what i call it lol.
