Custom exhaust setup
 

I havent had much experience with 240's, I just got a 97 SE, 5spd, and I am not sure about exhaust on 4cyls. I was planning on running 2.5 piping straight back, removing the resonators, and I am not sure what type of muffler to get, I want a low rumble, thats loud, but not overbearing, where thats all I can hear.
Is that piping too big? I want good hp gains throughtout, but mainly better throttle response.

I would recommend getting urself a short ram intake of any brand, Hotshot Headers, whatever type of piping you want to get but get it madrel bent by the shop, not crushed, and the classic apex'i n1 duals are good but owned by just about everyone although it should sound significantly dif. with a straight back system. I would personally go with 2.25 piping, but the difference is negligible.

Any reason why you want to go with a custom setup? 2.5" piping is fine. I have a Greddy exhaust with that diameter. I like it. If your after throttle response then I don't think the exhaust is going to get you what you want. From what I understand, the ECU is programmed with a tip in retard. I liken it to a stutter step of sorts. Its like a half second delay. If you want better throttle response your best bet would be an ECU upgrade from Jim Wolf Technology. (JWT) When they reprogram your ECU, the tip in retard is removed, giving you much better throttle response.
