Ok so Im posting this for my friend. Keep in mind I know very little about the sr20det. He just got done swapping in the sr motor and its full of fluids, It has spark and fuel. It cranks but wont start. Now I have know idea how to time these cars and it sounds like he doesnt either. I have a 5.0 and all I have to do is turn the distributor. I know its not that easy with the sr. so what are some things he should look for when tuning this car. What is base timing? Does the car have to be at tdc on the compression stroke to set the cam gears? If im ****ing this up, be kind I have no experience with the sr motor. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

 

do a search for SR20det factory shop manual....you can easily get timing from there
