Does the 1995 240sx have stock amplifier?

I keep hearing that the 240sx has a stock amplifier? Is this true? And if so where is it located and what RMS does it run at?

The reasion I ask is because I have a Clarion Deck sitting in my room that needs to be pre amped, I was wondering if I could preamp it using the stock amplifier.

there is an amp in the rear trunk, it sucks but its there. you'll have to hook up the amp anyways to hear any music or bypass the amp all together. why would the headunit need to be preamped?

No internal amplifier. And about the stock amp, they suck. If you look at the stock speakers IIRC they are like 8w rms... so the amps cant be very powerful at all.

But I could use that stock amp to preamp my head unit though right? I just low on cash and would rather spend my money on a big amp for my subs than a secondary speaker amp right now.

You can't (and shouldn't try to) use the stock amp. Everyone who upgrades their head unit without researching finds out that it won't work unless you bypass the stock amp and use the head unit's built-in amplification for the main speakers. If your head unit doesn't have internal amplification, then sorry - you're going to have to save more money to get a main speaker amp.

And Phantom also has a point - without upgrading the main speakers, changing head unit only will overpower the stock crap cones and you'll have craptacular sound. So you should get better main speakers too, especially in a 95.

i never disabled the stock amp in my car but it still works with the new headunit. the car came with the stock headunit so i dont think you have to disable the amplifiar. on the note of the internal amplification, i thought that would be the case i just couldn't think of any units that didnt have it off the top of my head.

Its all in how you wire it. Took me hella long to figure out how to wire up my stereo in my acura to make the rear amps work. Also, in my 240 it had an aftermarket HU that worked fine on the entire active system.

I thought i was the only person who said craptacular.
