I like the blue. Is your car blue by any chance?

DriftX 06-25-2007 05:46 PM

Thanks for the positive feedback, the motor was absolutely spotless when I picked it up. The previous owner powdercoated the engine blue, which I don't mind, I think it looks great! He also did a bunch of stuff that I don't have to deal with later on like thermostat, alternator, starter, clutch, ect ect.
I'm not doing anything with it soon, but the price was right (how cliche'), and the time was right, so I went ahead and got it.

It's going into my severly abused piggy this fall. While the old motor is out, I'm painting the engine bay black as well as the rest of the car. It's going to have stain black 16in volks with some sticky tires. While the car sits for the summer and I don't have to pay insurance on it, i'm saving up for some brembo rotors and hawk pads. It has new Koni shocks on it and I have some tein springs in the garage. The interior is a little rough, tipical 240sx syndrome- 1 crack in the dash, worn seat bolster and a center console someone took a hammer to. other than that its in great shape. I want to gut the interior, put new black carpet in, possibly fix the dash, and get some blue sparco bucks put in.

Progress pictures will be updated. I may start yanking out the sohc in a few weeks, but until then, I need to finish up the last bit of body work on my 73' Torino.

Man, I might have to ask you to do a play-by-play and document the pulling of the engine so we can have some kind of cool info. Sort of a how-to on the engine swap, if possible. Pictures are good either way. Keep us updated!

i hope that the screamer pipe for the wastegate isnt pinched all the way shut. if it is, then its running unlimited boost and that motor might be hurt already.

I have taken note of that, the pipe isn't as dented in as it look, just barley the edge to make it clear. I may just cut the pipe as needed to clear and get rid of the bend in it. I got the motor off a guy who had it running in his, and he only ran it a few times, so i'm 99.999% sure the motor is fine.

The whole setup cost me $2000.

It came with the motor, tranny, brand new clutch, turbo, wiring harness already converted to s13 chassis, fuel pump, ecu, maf sensor, side mount intercooler and piping, stock downpipe as well as a few performance goodies like a tomei intake filter adapter, 3in turbo outlet/screamer pipe, blitz bov.

I'm shooting for 220-250rwhp at 10pi. I already have an apexi 3in exhaust, megan racing test pipe, 4in cone filter on the car.

Any suggestions on a boost controller? I'm thinking a manual (cheap), with a good quality boost gauge to watch boost psi and keep everything copesetic.
