First 240sx Upgrades
 

Heres the deal, I've been saving up for a 240sx (s13, years 91-93). I plan to make this car a daily driver but I want to slowly convert it to a drifting car.
So my question is, what upgrades should I look out for? Im looking for moderately priced upgrades, nothing too expensive.

i really think the best thing you can do right now is to read around. figure out what you need. without asking other people waht you need. makes sense right?

UMMM if you slowly want to convert it into a drift car, and you get an s13 more than likely it won't have VLSD.
Order a s15 HLSD, direct bolt in for s13 chassis owners.

well one thing that I think is important is upgrading stock suspension. Wether it be just cheapo shocks and coils or something like megan coilovers.

And of course basic engine mods

yea id start working on suspension first, it can make a slow car fast, not to mention the car is old so suspension upgrades are always good...like vinnie said an lsd of some sort...oh and a good tune-up like new oil, filter, plugs ect..

I'd make sure everything is running correctly and fix anything that is wrong with the car before I started modding it.

Yeah well the car is a 240. so chances are it runs like ****, worn out, etc etc

yeah but general maintenance is def a really good idea before you start dropping the loot on aftermarket goodies

very good point. mods are a luxury, take care of the necessities first.

drive it and learn the car before you start modding.

Thanks for the help, I was obviously going to repair the car up before I got upgrades. I've been checking around the forums which helped also. Any other advice?

nope, just keep reading on what you want yourself. If its going to be drift deff. suspension to start but like everyone else was saying just Maintenance and learn the car before anything.

engine<suspension. a fast car that doesnt turn still sucks

I've gotta take my car to a mechanic seeing that a) I can't fix crap mechanically. b) my apartment complex doesn't allow people to work on their cars on the premises... So with that said, I took my car today to see what's wrong with it - if anything at all. Turns out the whole brake system on the rear is out, the boot on the caliper on the passenger side is out, the left is about to go, rotors were gone (machined them down a dozen times too many), and everything is is basically done.. Was going to cost well over 700$, but after it's all said and done, itll cost me only cost me 560$ish.. =)

Since now that I know for certain that nothing is wrong with my car, I can start planning out the route I'm headed towards for upgrades, etc.. So what, I need suspension first, and my car looks like hell, so I'm thinking then paint + interior (to make it more comfortable since it's my only car.) After that, I suspect it'll be towards saving cash for an sr or rb swap.. Either way doing the exhaust with the swap... Good plan? ^_-

Could anyone recommend me some good suspension systems? Also, hopefully my neighbor could help lol. I remember him reviving a old car.. I think it was a mustang. He replaced the engine and everything on it.
