found a car, hows the deal sound?

194,000it has dents and needs the sunroof replaced it runs fine

hey, my friends dad has a friend selling a s13 for only 600 bucks. so right away i ask whats wrong, my friend says nothing. then i thought, he might be telling the truth bcuz hes a rich guy, so probly will just wanna get rid of it. so i told my friend to go home and find out the details.
heres wat i found out so far...

Miles: 194k
Some dents
needs sunroof replaced
and runs fine

for 600 bucks doesnt that sound good? i know the miles are high, but its an older guy and im pretty sure he didnt drive the hell out of it, so it still does have life right? it wouldnt be waste to get it? and i told my friend just now to find out if hes the only owner. so ill know shortly. remember only for 600 bucks... hows that sound?

Sound's good! I flew from California to Ohio just to get a 97 240 with about 184,000 miles. Got it very cheap. But then again I was just planing on swapping the engine before I bought it. It ran great before the swap. Drove it back to Cali (2200 miles) no problems. So if your planning to motor swap, just get it man its a good deal.

im not sure exactly how much 240's go for.. but it sounds good to me... i got my 240 (a 91) with 106k miles, a lil bit of body damage, timing chain rattle, and a 5 speed for 875... that was an awesome deal... so i guess thats a pretty good buy if it runs good.

yah around here they are about 1k something, the only ones you find under 1k usually dont run, but since this guy is pretty rich, he probly just wants to get rid of it for cheap.

Look at it this way.......good body bad motor is MUCH easier and MUCH less money to drop a motor in. If it's got a good motor and bad body......unless you can do bodywork yourself or have a friend remember it's about $55/hr on the LOW end....

ive thought about that, and its not a problem for me, my dad has a big garage/shop in his yard to work in becuz he races race cars so we have any tool needed, including sanders and buffers all the stuff for body work, and my step mom owned a bodyshop with her first husband for a few years and can do all that stuff. my dad and step mom together will make this car great for me, including me ill help the best i can.

(my stepmom/dad just recently fully restored a 68' chevy truck)

so yah, definately not worried about paying for it to look good, all ill have to pay for is the paint, and my step mom gets a huge discount on that anyways bcuz they all know she paints cars really well.

sorry i keep making posts without editing, but i want to make sure you guys see this.

my friend is pretty much an *******, lol, he lied about the needs to be sold in a week thing, so it could still be my car...

but is it still worth buying even tho it grinds a lil bit shifting to second? is the transmissions about to just give away? or what...

It sounds like the synchros are going in the tranny... something that high mile trans do... if your dad works on race cars you could def. rip the tranny out and inspect it... youll have a better understanding on whats wrong with it... The synchros can do that for a while and not give out... With some trannys it wont grind between certain shift point... find that point and stick with it... also i would suggest to change the trans fluid after you get it and use some sychro-helper tranny fluid... Thats just my 2 cents...
