God damn electrical issues...

So my poor zenki continues to have electrical issues... It idles to low sometimes and the idles is often uneven, if I'm on cruise control on the highway at low RPM's (below 2k or so) the RPM's seem a little uneven as well. It's been a lot colder here the past week and a half and my car has been having trouble starting which has never happened before.
I've replaced the battery, the clamps and most of the cables. I've had the alternator checked out... it's supposidly fine according to the machine at auto zone but I've noticed the voltage from the car is a bit low idleing on my multimeter.
I don't have any wierd electrical accessories, just an alpine deck and a grounding kit on the negative terminal.
Maybe bad voltage regulator? I'm thinking I'm gonna buy a new alternator. The autozone people assure me it's ok... but they're dumb.
I dunno if it's related but I think my car might be leaning out a bit. It backfires sometimtes when I'm dropping down to low RPM and before I replace the battery and ran some seaforam through it was burning a little oil. Is it leaning out? What do you guys think?

just recheck all ground, if u have to take the connections off and dremal sand them all to booost connectivity.

I have all new ground cable from my new optima red top to the chassis, I also have it grouned like 5 other places with the grounding kit... good places.

i know when your battery has a full chareg the alternatyor doesnt put out as much as it will when it is running at near full capacity.

backfiring could be your timing also...
i know i had a bad idle and a slight surging when my timing was off as well as backfiring.

Backfiring is related to rich conditions anyways isn't it?

yup buddy cool that u have the extra grounds, but its not good if the surface is painted over possible dirty, In theory the bolt with past throgh the threads and gound the cable out but just sand/clean any paint/dirt off if u havent.

yup backfire is related to rich and or bad timing conditions. Or if u happen to have a Misfireing system to spool your turbo, that would be cool as shiit

I checked my timing yesterday and it was right on at 20 degrees.
