got questions, need answers =)
 

-im getting really terrible mileage, what could be causing it?
-rpm's have started to bounce, not regulary enough for me to have noticed when i got the car, why?
-i really want to get my car to run as smooth as possible stock before i start doing things to it (ie. intake, exhaust) any tips?
-i dont wanna be an easy target when i go to mechanic and ask him what needs to be done to get my car to run like new so what should i ask?
-what is safe to use to clean the engine bay?
-anybody have an aftermarket steering wheel but still able to use cruise control? did u just remove and remount the buttons?
-ive removed the stock spoiler but now i dont have a third brake light. anybody wanna trade it for the inside third brake light housing or know where i can find one or if their even is one?
-sorry for the long post but thanks for all the help and no more thread whoring for me either :laugh:
- also, my reverse lights are not working but the bulbs are good. where is the wire that makes them turn on?

to answer a few

my altima got horrible mileage with bouncing rpms and other symptoms too. i never figured it out. i saw swap the engine for a performance one.

the distributor is already covered by a plastic cover so you can go crazy with the de greaser and then hose it off with a pressure washer.

i can't help you with the other q's.

the mileage thing on my altima never went away but by replacing the intake manifold gasket and the air plenumb gasket the rpms held steady.

the bouncing rpm could be from the avi or aiv.. (however it is spelled)

another thing, my car shakes during hard braking but im not hauling ass or anything

you can try changing you fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires. check your MAF and make sure its not dirty at all.

wheel shaking - your brakes are warped...replaced the rotors.

clean your engine bay with a degreaser, or simple green-----best stuff ever! that should about do it
literaly makes grease and junk just roll off.

yeah... simple green is some great but harsh stuff... make sure u dont inhale too much

yes remount the buttons...
buy a new hatch from a junkyard.
and the reverse lites...theres a whole mess of wires coming front the front of thr car going to a whole bunch of things in te back...tail lites...fuel pump...reverse lites...speakers...to name some...so you can just follow the wires...

its a coupe but in the car manual it shows a pic with an inside 3rd brake light and one on the spoiler anybody have the one inside and where can i get it from
