Help Please, Instrument Panel

Hello, i was wondering how to get the black piece off that goes around the instrument panel. The piece that has the flasher, rear defog, cruise control ect. switches on it. I have a 1989 240, i got all the screws out got the thing hanging just cant get the wire off for the pop up lights or the dash dimmer. I really need to know how to get those to wires off, also after i disconnect them does that piece come right off or do I have to take off the piece on the steering column that makes it go up and down, the tilt wheel adjuster. Thanks any help appreciated, cant get this dang thing off, just got those glow gauges want to get them on there... :tear:

your going to have to remove the piece that goes above where your legs would be. Then your going to have to drop the steering column a bit (2 bolts almost directly underneath the bezel and two further back), remove the two screws at the top of the bezel, and then you should be able to pull it out enough to disconnect the harness connectors to the switches. Then you should be able to pull out the bezel. Then you will see three screws holding in the cluster, take them out and pull the cluster out enough to disconnect the three harness connectors in the back and it should be out.

i got most of the wire connectors out but i cant get 2 of them, i cant get the one that controls the pop up lights out cause its a wierd connector unlike the flashers and the rear defrost, and the one that controls instrument panel brightness, i cant see anyway to get that one out its just confusing me any help is appreciated

I just told one way how to do it, do what I said and it will give you more room to work with. For the headlight button you can also just pull it out and then disconnect it, its really not that hard.

you gots to be careful when i got my white glow guages installed from a friend it was alot of wiggling and turning and eventually she came free its just that you make sure everything is proporly disconnected from the back make sure of this get some1 with small hands if you got big hands like me ha. if not you somehow have to do the turn and flip in your car so u can see under where its hooked up and check whats going on and hopfully it should come loose. some of them (in my car at least) they are the push plugs with a clip to hold them in place. hopfully this helped you a bit with your problem!:)
