I removed the AIV today!

I removed my AIV valve today, it seems to drive smoother and it reduced the back fire exhaust pop, I recommend this to anyone and everyone. I kept the whole thing in one piece in a shoe box for next smog check, which I think is every 2 years not sure IN CALI??? If some one can help me out with that. It took me about an hour to finish because I was trying to find something to plug the hose form the exhuast manifold. To take off the actual AIV it took me like 10 mins I took it off in one piece to put back on easily.

here, i'll make it easy for u;) :

1. got to NICO
2. go to the forums
3. go to '240SX' under 'Car Specific'
4. go to 'Technical'

there's a sticky on this very thing in that forum.

man, I swear to GOD i've covered this so many times it isn't funny.
I reccommend it to any s13, s14's don't have them.
NICO has the full walkthrough with pics, follow that and you're set. Loved the outcome on my s13, as well as the free room!

NcTwOfOuRtY 02-05-2004 06:00 PM

lol well I dont think its any sensors cause we did that self diagnostic thing and it didnt say any sensors were bad but ill try disconecting the battery for the night thanks.

drnovascotia 02-05-2004 06:13 PM

yeah, no AIV on s14's. Reasoning? They caused more problems than they were worth!
Won't throw any ECU codes.
