launching

hey guys, i was practicing my launches the other day and i would launch it at 4,000 and drop the clutch. now the problem is my car started to kind of sway to one side and to the other, my car is a 93 240sx HICAS, hicas meaning it should also be equiped with LSD right?? so what could be causing this swaying??

LSD will spin both rear tires when you dump the clutch - so there is not traction in the rear when your tires are spinning. But you will hook up faster than a non-lsd rear.

first off, hicas is actually the name of the 4 wheel steering you have on your car (4 wheel steer not 4 wheel drive).

now im not sure if that means it comes with an lsd or not

Most posts state that HICAS equipped cars came with LSD. They are one of the options we non equipped owners have to look for when searching for vlsds in junk yards.

Plus with your 4 wheel steering I could see the swaying coming from you break grip.

Could it be some form of torque steer?

Somewhat like what happens when you launch with a front wheel drive?

With LSD, dropping the clutch at 4k sounds like a good way to launch it.

No need to slip the clutch - it has LSD so the tires won't spin for very long.

4k is about right - lower than that and the engine will bog down once the tires get traction.

yeah, it'll help your car lose weight, thus making it faster.
