me vs is300
coming back from my dj gig me and my friend got to run on the highway, now i had my equipment which added on another 50 pounds to the rear, i only have an injen intake and apexi n1 catback on my ka24de, my car 5 speed vs his automatic, and mods his car has is an injen intake, we went from a 55mph roll and i hept up with him untill i hit 120 then he started to pull. now i dont know the stats. on is300's so i dont know if i did good or just the way it should be.

IS300's stock put down 19x hp at the wheels from the dyno tests I've seen. But they also weigh over 3000 pounds.
My buddy with an IS300 with intake will not race me. I think my car just feels/sounds faster becasue of the exhaust. Anyway, a 240 with the mods you have should beat an IS300 from a dead start to 1/4 mile. Most of the 1/4 mile tests I've seen have it rated at close to 17 seconds - a stock 240 should be able to pull mid 16's or lower. -Justin http://www.saltgod.org |
Well the is 300 should be able to beat us pretty much hands down. it does a 15.4 quarter mile and that is a supra engine in there inline 6. maybe your friend really doesn't know how to drive, but it seems that our cars would lose this fight :(
the is 300 is very fast even in automatic mode. |
he was using up tip tronic (i think i spelled that right) and i also had the dj equipment still in my car, but ive never had the chance to run him from the dead stop so ill let you guys know how that goes, i just bought my car not that long ago so iam still learning a few things. thanks guys

Did you take out your speed limiter? Other wise that's why he pulled at around 115 or 120.

is300: (01) 240sx: (98 SE)
215 hp to the fly 155 hp to the fly 218 lbs torque 160 lbs. of torque 3270 lbs. 2862 power to weight ratio: is300-.0657 240sx-.0541 the is300 has us significantly beat :/ but it is significantly more expensive and yeah they use the supra's 2jz motor, but that motor is crap until you get some FI on it... im yet to see a real is300 racer, they are mostly show from what i have seen, with the exception of that fuggin HKS altezza dragster |

Most of the IS300 guys are running mid 16's stock.... the best time I've seen anone post for a stock car on www.is300.net was 15.2 - and I don't know if I completely buy that.
Since there have been low 15 second stock 240's (Donnie Brosc on NYC ran a 15.1 completely stock), and it's not hard for even an inexperienced driver to run low 16's in a 240, I'd have to say you have a pretty damn good chance lining up next to an IS300. My car (completely stock) ran 16.9 on the Gtech in 90+ degree weather with the ac on. 16.1 in the same heat when I remembered to turn off the AC. Intake and exhaust will pretty much guarantee you victory over a stock IS unless you're a really bad driver and he's a really good one. Damn, I have to drag my buddy to the track so I can test my theory... he has the blue IS on my website. -Justin http://www.saltgod.org |

low 15s on the IS300 sounds possible...but stock for stock im also pretty sure that the IS would slap the 240 around a lil high end
