my engine is retarded

any of you mechanics know how to fix my 92 240se? my engine suddenly started to shake really bad. it feels like it lost half of it's power and feels like its running on 3 cylinders. when i apply gas, it sounds like a old beat up buggy.

i changed new spark plugs and replaced the distributor cap and sanded the rotor. did compression test and compression was good at all 4 cylinders. checked spark plug wires and they have normal readings. opened valve cover to inspect any faulty valves but they are fine.

im changing my fuel filter today and i will see if its that. any suggestions on what else needs to be done? help me solve this very annoying problem plz. i cant even go on the freeway because of this.

check your injectors and your engine electronics ( fuels delivery)

Dude same **** happend to me (still trying to work it out).

Here is what I've done so far, I replaced the KNOCK sensor, but that didn't fix much, some of the shaking stoped though, but still feels like it has only 1/2 its power. I was going to repalce the fuel filter soon to, let me know if it helps out, and i'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

did you use the non-turbo fuel filter or the turbo fuel filter from the 95 300zx, going to replace mine this weekend.

Put a 95 300zx fuel filter on my car this weekend. The rev up is real impressive, and the down shift respons is real impressive. My motor still has a little shake to it though, so it didn't really fix all my problems, but it is running way way better.
