NEED ANSWERS ASAP!! lol :P

well not really kinda but oh well. quick question, i need a 100% for sure answer tho. Is it okay to extend the fuel injector plug wires????

Biggamehit Feb 12, 2009 09:49 PM

sure... but why

jramosthe1st! Feb 12, 2009 09:56 PM

to be 100% sure you need to specify the length, gauge, and material of the wires along with the volts and amps that will be transmitted. but yes for the most parts it's ok.

Biggamehit Feb 12, 2009 10:00 PM

yeaup Jram its almost like USB/Cat5 cable when dealing with computers. A single cable cant be but so long.

Im going to say, if its more than a foot long, Yea don't do it.

hmmm, well since i got the new manifold, i extended the m so i could run the wiring harness underneath the manifold. i know the negative for each plug is 18g, the positive is like a 17 so i ran 16g for the positive. pretty sure its only 10 amps, not sure on the voltage. damn, shoulda invested in a voltometer. i might have to borrow one, you guys know the voltage for them at stock length? or a place i could see how much?

Biggamehit Feb 12, 2009 10:42 PM

you can have a decent digi volt meter for about 20 bucks

as far as specs consult the FSM brother

240smoke Feb 13, 2009 05:27 AM

Isnt the voltage 12volts...? HA HA.

Biggamehit Feb 13, 2009 06:12 AM

no we are talking resistance. when you make wires longer etc... that can be affected

240smoke Feb 13, 2009 06:33 AM

It only matter if the gauge of the wire is tiny. If it is 18 AWG then a couple feet will not matter. If it is 30 AWG then yes, a couple feet will matter. I only see this being a problem if he wrapped the wire around the car a couple times. HAHA.

Biggamehit Feb 13, 2009 08:01 AM

yeaup

terribleone Feb 13, 2009 09:15 AM

oh ok yea its just 18 and 16. longest one is about 1ft. 5in. then 10in then 6 and then 4

240smoke Feb 13, 2009 09:29 AM

It wont affect anything. Just make sure you use the same gauge wire when you extend them.

battosaii930 Feb 13, 2009 11:43 AM

lol im using 1/0 AWG wire for my battery relocation its about 17feet of wire so i made sure i got a wire with the least resistance. im sure a 17/18 AWG wire is fine for 1 foot

ok awesome. and another thing. i was running a SOHC KA throttle cable, the actual cable where it coneccted to the throttle body was the long enough but i still have to make a custom bracket. th only thing was that the overall length was running overtop of the valve cover. so i got a DOHC KA cable and put it on, overall length is perfect cuz it runs behind the engine between the firewall and engine BUT now where it connects to the hrottle body is too short and if i made a bracket, i would have to extend itand it would hit the pulley at WOT. anybody know if the actually SR20 throttle cable would be perfect or should i just tun the SOHC over the valve cover?

240smoke Feb 13, 2009 03:41 PM

I am not actually sure about this. I used some safety wire to hold the cable in place. I think most people just use the KA throttle cable. I think they make special throttle cables for the swap. This is a common thing that is over-looked. HAHA.

You get the motor in and everything hooked up and then you look at the throttle cable and just stare at it dumbfounded. haha.
