You need to swap your tach.

the signal reading from the ecu maybe on a different pin or something cause i know the sr swap has the same problem if you try to use it in a car with a ka SOHC. I would just look into buying a JDM gauge cluster. I have one and willl be testing it with my sr in a few days.

Okay I had the same problem with my RB swap. Here was my fix

The SOHC will not work PERIOD. It is a 12V signal, while DOCH is 16v. I had a DOHC so I put that one in, BUT didnt hook it up. So I spliced the wire from the ECU to an aftermarket tach...no signal.....WTF. SO on a whim I spliced the wire from the ECU to the wire on the tach plug that goes into the gauge cluster.BOOM I get a signal but on the RB swap, the DOHC cluster tach reads twice as high. SO I spliced the aftermarket tach into the other spliced wires and it worked. Since you are doing the SR20 swap, you just need a DOHC cluster. Should be able to get it off ebay for cheap. If yo uwant to keep the cluster you have and use teh aftermarket one, use my solution and see if it works. There really is no need to buy a JDM cluster or DOHC if you already have an aftermarket tach

I think that you have to make sure to get a 91-93 dohc cluster????
