New to 240s

hey im new to 240s but from what i have learned i have been missing out. I used to be a die=hard honda fan then one day someone showed me a 240 and everything u can do and i nvr cared bout another honda since. Well i am looking into buying a 95 thru 98 (i think its s14...?) and was wondering what would be a good engine swap: SR20 or something like the RB26. I like the SR b/c of part availability but i mean the RB is a skyline :naughty: so what my question is:

Which one is better and would it be cheaper to buy a clip or get just the engine and tranny?

there were a lot of discussions between the SR and RB.
and between the Clip and Engine with tranny so search.

but to help you out here, i will just say that:

make your life easier and buy a front clip SR20DET.
you dont have to worry about all those little things that dont come with just the engine and tranny because you have it right there on the clip.

why SR? the parts are always there next door. just go out and buy them. its really hard to find replacement parts for a RB if you dont have contacts in japan. but RB is stronger. anyway, i would go with SR.

Get a SR20DET frontclip, everything you need, right in the package, RB26DETT is a monster of an engine, but from the way things are its not practical, barely any aftermarket parts, and to fit that engine in a 240, your gonna need to custom awhole crap load of things...another reason why a sr20 is better is that there are plenty of mechanical shops knowledgable in the sr20 rather then the RB

if your interested in RB swaps check out McKinney Motorsports they have the custom mounts needed to mount the engine, driveshafts and everything you will need

If you were to get a Rb you would have the potential to get hp out the ass! But i would go with a Sr swap or turbo a Ka.

also u gotta convert the rb26dett to rb26det iirc....

Lots of reading and searching is your best bet.:thumb: Also you may have to consider emmision laws in your area 96-98 are obII and can't be swapped legally if you have to pass emmisions.

thanx a lot and yes i have searched and heard it was expensive and difficult to do the skyline but i mean it is a skyline afterall and thats just too player to pass up. but i do understand bout the part availability and what not so thankx a million for all the input i think i am gonna stick with a SR20 for now and who knows, i might just pick up a RB down the line as my weekend warrior car lol
