New to this

Hello, I am currently serving in Iraq. I plan on buying a 240sx when i get to the states with the money I have saved up here. I have been here for 16 months and am excited about my project. I am looking to buy a 95 or 96 model and do the SR20DET front clip swap. I would like to know prices..JDM specs..and everything I would need to know in newby terms to get started. I have found several cars for 4 to 6 thousand. I guess it doesn't matter how many miles the car has if I'm redoing the whole thing. I plan of spending about 13,000 after buy the car. Will I be able to achieve a fast car the looks good cosmeticly and is decently reliable. My Email is justinknight85@yahoo.com or you can just reply to this through this forum. The more info I get...the better off I am. Thanx

sup brother... it seems the military are really starting to come out now... yea man any question you may have are all located in the engine section. there is a special section for Sr20's etc

but just for starters the average price of a front clip will range from about 2100 to 2500 dollar acrose many sites. but a front clip is not needed bro you can just get the motor with accessories

im air force and we have a few other branches here also... ill be heading to the Box soon also

redtop clips are generally 2600.

for an S14 though, the clip wont help you much as the intercooler, radiator and crap can be a bit tough to retrofit to S14 for a newb.

go this route:

SR20DET motorset 1800 - 2500 depending where/which you get
Koyo Radiator 300 - 350 youll be happy you went this route
some form of electric fans ~200
downpipe ~150
front mount ~450 Greddy Mspec
wiring service 200 - 350 depending on motor choice
misc ~250 belts, oils, filters, hoses, etc

thats about as basic as it gets.

13,000 is plenty to get a really good all-around car....

Maybe 3-4k on bodywork/paint/cosmetics
2k wheels and tires
5k on swap, labor, miscellaneous swap parts, etc
2k more on suspension

That would get you a pretty decently handling car with decent speed and good looks

If you have 13k already to spend you could probably buy an already built car and get a killer deal on all the mods. Unless you want to to it all yourself.
