Newbie questions & Compression Testing ...

I'm a newb and I'm looking at getting a '98 and I ran it threw Carfax, which didn't say if it was a SE or LE. So first off, how do I tell the difference? I know the base had 4 lugs. Also, when I run a Compression Test what PSI should I expect? And where do I pull the fuel injection fuse from?

Thanks for the replie(s),
Nick

PS - I'm in Michigan and the car is in Florida and I'm leaving on the 8th.

So is seems as if the difference between the SE and LE is the sunroof, leather seats, & CD came standard. And the leather was N/A for the SE. Intresting...

i believe 10% leakage and under is what it should be(normal) but i think it's still ok if it's 15% or so... just means it's leaking somewhere more.

For the compression test...each cylinder should be reading around 170, plus or minus 10. Those are the usual numbers for a warm engine

anything aboe 150 is good, hopefully closer to 170 on a new car. Look out for variation between them.

Ok cool, it's got 47K miles so I'll expect around 160-165. 150 is the service limit then?

Thanks for the help.

yeah, lower than 150 isn't so hot, especially on a newer engine.
check the FAQ's as well for common s14 problems.
