OBDII using OBDI Tranny

I need to do a 5 speed swap on that ka before I feel right building the car anymore. My issue is finding a 96-98 5 speed transmission. Its impossible to find one near me... Im at the point of paying $70 extra just for shipping to recieve one.

My question though, if I were to use a S13 OBDI tranny I would get a CEL. Would it affect my car in anyother way?

Dude you can use the SOHC tranny you just need to swap out the speed sensor so that it will work for your DOHC.

Serious so there wont be a CEL?

yeah the speedo sensor and two other things that i'm uncertain about there function are all the wire on the tranny. none of which should cause any problems. having the corresponding speedo sensor to go with your tires should be your only concern.

I am going to piggy back on this thread, because this is my case.

95 S14 using a S13 Transmission. my gauge reading is way off by X2 the speed.

am I able to use a S14 manual speed sensor in the S13 transmission? I am concerned about the sensor's teeth width and counts so I can get a correct speed reading on my car.

Thanks.

Yes. All FS5W71c transmissions use the same sensor port so you should be able to plug it right in. I think even sr20, RB20 and RB25 transmissions use the same FS5W71C gearbox, and sensor port. As long as it is a manual sensor yo should be fine.

Hmm..i am using the S13 speed sensor and my speed is x2 of it's actual reading..

it's kinda amousing to see my speedo go up so damn fast..

I think i have set me a new goal..to get my car that fast.. ahahaha i can do 0-60 on first gear. 3 sec's ;)

but thanks Vince!

So..anyone have S14 manual speed sensor laying around? haha

You do throw a cel due to sensor on obd2 bellhousing.. as far as driving issues I'm unsure the car does start..without it though.
Drill hole for sensor and tap to secure sensor down and use washers to raisee sensor from hitting flywheel teeth.
