painting interior

i removed all the interior panels and carpeting in my car except for the dash...and now i am ready to take out the sound deadening material and paint everything...i am painting the interior medium gloss black and i figured it would be ok if i just painted over the stock paint with primer...and clearcoat it for durability...i was wondering if anybody else has experience doing this or if anybody has any tips for removing the sound deadening material or painting or tell me if i am going to do anything wrong....

i've done a red-gloss dash before .... its a ***** to drive in the sun(reflection on windsheild) ... but if your just doing panels, sounds like you got it right.

Don't just paint over man, and if you don't want to sand a little, then lay some prep-solvent down before you prime/paint.

i suggest sanding off the other paint, if you take your time on stuff it looks alot better.

As far as removing the sound deadening. You can go to any local supply store and pick up some dry ice, when you get it home you can smash it up like snow, then spread all over the covered areas and wait. You will actually hear the deadening crack away from the body. And the little bits that remain you can use a good solvent you wipe that away. (gasoline works grat but make sure your in a WELL ventaliated area!)
