Roller paint Silvia

Most of you prolly have seen this thread in one form or another, but for those who havent, check this out!
Import Atlanta Roller paint thread

This paint technique piqued my interest so much that I decided to try it out on project Silvia. The paint was already crummy and didnt match the JDM front end so I figured whats the worst that could happen?

Sorry for the bad pics, was taken with a camera phone.

Here is a semi-before pic, Notice that the bottom here is painted black. The original plan was to do a grey on black two tone job. I decided to go with full on black after I saw how well the gloss black went on. The grey was a little too flat for my taste.

Here is a S13 model I put together to see what grey n black would look like. Nice, but the full on black is really warming up to me

I kept the hood silver...not to look ricey or nuth'n. Im getting an OEM style CF hood soon, so I didnt want to waste time and paint. Tell me what ya think?

I need to paint just my replacement pignose bumper, and i was wondering if this method will work on the bumper, which is not metal? I would really like to try this and save me some money. Also, would they be able to match my color with this brand of paint?

AZdrifterS13 Jan 9, 2007 11:39 PM

Yeah the paint is meant to adhere to anything. And im pretty sure you could get it matched at home depot or wherever you buy it at. make sure you read the other threads from other forums really good and get all the right stuff cause if you dont do it right it will look like crap. be prepared to do alot of wet sanding! haha. good luck

anti_flag_army Jan 9, 2007 11:44 PM

I saw that it takes a lot of sanding. And since the bumper i am painting is jsut kickin it next to the garage, im in no hurry to get it done. The only reason i ask about the color, is i was at Home Depot today and looked at the cans of this paint and only found one red color, now would i just bring them a sample and ask if they can match the color to that brand?

AZdrifterS13 Jan 10, 2007 12:13 AM

well in one of the threads in that other forum, the guy said they can mix it to any color, so idk. I would just bring the sample and talk to the guys at Home Depot, they will now way more about mixing than me!
