S2k motor in 240sx in new import tuner

Have you guys seen the new magazine? I think it's for November or December. I just saw the cover but didn't get a chance to read the article. Hmm, more horsepower but no torque but maybe a greater chance to turbo? And keep it street legal of some sorts. So rather than stuffing an SR in the chassis stuff a S2k motor and turbo it.

What do you guys think?

ryguy 10-18-2007 09:55 AM

It's been done.

Agreed, and an expensive swap

yarou 10-18-2007 11:14 AM

I think it's too expensive just to be different. You can easily do much more with a KA, SR or whatever along the lines of the cost of an f20c. The only cool cars the f20c can go in are classic toyotas and miatas imo. I own an s2000 too, so there's your s2k biased answer.

hayabusa03rx 10-18-2007 12:22 PM

Only bonus of the s2k is the high redline.

yarou 10-18-2007 01:43 PM

^lol there's more than just the redline, but these bonuses aren't worth the price especially when you can make other motors more powerful for just the price of a used f20c

battosaii930 10-18-2007 02:04 PM

lol dude with the cost of a F20c you can make a SR safely rev to 9k rpm and have more power and a better power band all the way to 9k rpm

How much is it for a f20c motorset anyway? Its nice to be different but probably cheaper to do a ls1 swap and make alot more power outta the box.

NiSmO Knight 10-18-2007 02:42 PM

Hook up price for an F20C is 4000 motor set. Take that 4000 and roll up to a pontiac wrecking yard and pick up an LS2 motor set w/ a T56 tranny.

Same price, double the power and about triple the torque. Yeah, I'll take my dose of American muscle now, thnx... LOL

Seriously, I thought about this for the last year, and an F20C swap sounded interesting, but not worth the money. Plus, Im saving up for a nucking futs insane project in a few years. My brother is taking over the S14 when he gets his license. I'll roll deep in a monster no one would ever have thought up of.

silviaks2nr 10-18-2007 02:55 PM

i would definitely want the 2.2 liter if i did this swap, i would rather put a 3rotor in over the honda engine though. 200hp and 130tq just isn't very appealing to me

nightkid86 10-18-2007 03:48 PM

Honda does make some darn fine engines though.

Spade 10-18-2007 04:13 PM

thats stupid. why not easily a S15 SR20 swap?

yarou 10-18-2007 04:18 PM

Exactly, for the price of an f20 you can get the s15 sr. If the f20 in my s200 blew, I'm putting an s15 sr in it. You can hold me to that, it'd be a great motor in such a nice chassis

ryguy 10-18-2007 04:24 PM

lol fat chance your motor is gonna blow any time soon. They put that motor in that car for 2 reasons- the motor was used in the RS*R S2000 for like 4 years and was a proven solid motor, plus they had a deadline of like 2 weeks to build the car and the motor was readily avaliable. Work with what you got.
