silvia=hatch?

Hello all u 240 biased mf'ers:D
i thought i would ask your opinions anyway so here goes:

my friend is looking into getting either:
-89-94 silvia coupe imported from japan such as this one for example.
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/8...tks10170bw.png
or a hatch, (possibly imported also), and turning it into something like this one.
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/3/bryan10wl.jpg

he is torn between the two, looking at the pros we have:
silvia:stock sr20,low miles,RHD,possibly some extra aftermarket goodies.
hatch:stock b18(possibly turbo) low miles RHD also and possibly some aftermarket goodies, tons of parts out there, so basically the same as the silvia in that aspect.

cons:
silvia:possibly beaten on and not taken care of(i guess this could go for either)
hatch:not RWD...hmm if u think of any for either post em.

Well either way I hope he doesnt expect to drive these things legally on the road  Of course im going to be biased and say the silvia because of the RWD. But then again EGs are sex and I like them a lot.

Better question. What does he want the car for?

xXsilviaXx 10-27-2005 03:25 PM

yes it is legal. the importer legalizes them.

EDIT:he wants acceleration....basically that good ol feeling of pulling hard.

Re: silvia=hatch?

Damn boy, I sure do miss my EG-6. Had the same lip, same color, fiber hood, different headlights and stuck a LS/Vtec up in it and did some mid 12s. If He's looking for acceleration, The EG6 straight from Japan is a great choice! comes equip with the 1.6 B16A producing a 160hp thats bound to take him to the 14 second class stock!

Fast1One 10-27-2005 06:09 PM

The EG definately has more potential for acceleration only because of its weight and part availability. I would go with that and if he has the money, swap in a K20. Mmmmm.....

HOWEVER. There is nothing like being pushed by RWD. Fun in the rain :D

It depends what he wants. A steet machine thats fun to drive or a drag car with nearly unlimited potential.

apex760 10-27-2005 07:39 PM

what bumper is that on the silvia??

DARKEST_HOUR 10-27-2005 08:06 PM

Thats stock isnt it???

birgir185 10-27-2005 09:05 PM

i dont know if thats just me or do people really think its cool to have a rhd car in a country that all other car are lhd

btw you can get a eg6 with 16b(160hp) with LHD from europe

xXsilviaXx 10-27-2005 09:08 PM

well it's something new. and stock sr over there stock ka here. thats what i think he's thinking. is with stock sr he can be faster with less work. with a ka-t or sr swap.

Ayuaddict 10-27-2005 09:23 PM

well the point in owning wither of those cars isnt really acceleration?...well i would buy either just for the handling...iono...mustangs pull really hard...any V8 with lots of displacement

l2aine 10-29-2005 07:01 AM

Tell him to buy the Civic since it sounds like he knows nothing about 240sx's and he's importing to be JDM Tyte.

xXsilviaXx 10-29-2005 01:47 PM

/\possibility:p :dunno:

silviaks2nr 10-29-2005 02:21 PM

alteast import something we can't get here, ie tourer chaser or r31 or 32.
