swaping obd2 plenum for obd1
sup guys i just got another KA from a 95 240 (s14). i have and s13 with a dohc in it already ( blown ) i read that i have to swap the plenums and i can see why. when doing this what should i watch out for and or get befor i start this small adventure.
ps also when i got the motor it was laying on its side. when i open the butterfly aboutu 4-5 tbs of oil came out. and that was all. IS that ok or should i just get a new motor |
don't knwo too much on this, but i'd say you could clean it -- take it apart. i don't know how much you'd have to take apart.
if you got the motor locally and they have stock, you could see ifyou can return it to get a new one. but it might not be worth the couple hundred dollars to have a new one shipped, etc. also i think 95 240 has obd1 and 96+ has 2. good luck! |
oil comming out of the intake is not a good sign... i would remove it clean it and check to see if there is oil in the intake ports on the head... the only way oil can get in there normally is for one or more of the rings being totally bad.. which would cause major motor problems... was a compression test done on the motor befor it was taken out of tha car??? if it was done and all the holes checked to be right then i would not worry too much about it...
like it was said befor make sure you can take it back if it turns out to be a bad motor... |
yea i have a 60 day warrenty. the motor has 72000 mile on it, when i check the spark wires they were clean and dry so i dont have any worn gaskets and or seals
i just really think what happen was when they shipped it, it was on its side tolong. i have to take the plenum off anyway, so ill check things out. if oil is in the intake ports, im not even installing the motor, ill take it back and get another |
