Time for Bigger Brakes

I have a 91' fastback se with a s13 blacktop and with all this extra power the stock brakes just are not cutting it. Evertime i clean my wheels they are black again the next day so i am upgrading on somewhat of a tight budget.

I was thinking 26mm Z32 calipers in the front with stock Z32 rotors and just new rotors in the back with better pads

This is for the street only too no track i just need something safer then what i currently have, what do you guys think

Thanks

Dude, Q45 big brakes are cheaper, and it uses the same disc rotor size as the 300z/z32. Plus you don't need the stupid brake line required for the z32, calipers, it's a direct bolt on!!!
I will sell you a set for $165. Not including shipping charges.

Z31's are only good isf it comes from the turbo versions. Stock NA z31 aren't a big brake combo.

Here is to complete the info.
R32/Z31Turbo 86-89/z32/q45/J30/JDM Schassis are all compatible upgrades (caliper brake and rotor) for our usdm front end suspensions. Note that the j30/Q45/ JDM s-chassis are the easiest installs and direct bolt on's.

R32/JDM s-chassis/z32 rear caliper brakes and rotors are all direct compatible upgrade with very little work.

It is noted using a 1/4" spacer subaru wrx sti brembo's, can be used with the z32/R32/J30 rotors.

BTW I warranty all used rotors and calipers for 6 months wrecking yards don't. Have fun brake hunting.

i think big vinnie is great, but dude 165 dollars for a set of q45 brakes with rusted rotors, you got to be kidding me. I can get q45 calipers ALL DAY LONG at my local salvage yards for 25 dollars a caliper (50 bucks for both), then 26 dollars for a brand new rotor from autozone(52 dollars) and then 22 dollars for brandnew brake pads. Dude just goto a salvage yard and get the calipers and then purchase everything else brand new. you could even buy a rebuild kit for the calipers for less than 20 dollars and there is nothing to rebuilding them. but anyways, q45 is the way to go unless you want the bling factor of the z32 brakes. I doubt you would even notice a difference between the two. But yea, just buy the calipers and then goto your local auto part store and buy everything else you new. Rebuilt brakes plus all new parts should be less than 150 dollars. BTW goto www.car-part.com to search for your calipers.

yeah i have lots of q45's at my junkyard too, so the caliper is a direct bolt on no mods needed except for drilling the caliper for a 4 lug and do i need a brake master cylinder too

Drill the rotors and you are good to go. It is a direct bolt on. No swapping of brake lines like t6he z32 or R32. You want the calipers and rotors from the 90-98 q45

Who says that I don't machine and drill the rotors...LOLs Better yet paint the center to match the calipers. Those were just pics of a set that I started on .

Here is what you fail to understand. Really a whole caliper cost $35, a rotor cost $12.00. So yeah it is cheap to go out to a wrecking yard and get it yourself if you have the time for $94.00 you can walk out with a clean set of rotors and calipers. I have no shame to my game.
Like I said I warranty all parts for six months.
1.) it takes my personal time to get these rotors, and calipers.
2.)it takes 3 hours of my own time to clean, prep, and paint the calipers and centers of the rotors.
3.) I can machine rotors at no charge so you are getting a deal for what you pay for.
4.)If a little rust bugs you on the rotors go buy them new $35 a piece.
5.)If you don't want to spend the extra money to do nothing at all that is your perogative, it doesn't mean it is a bad deal to some one else. It just means your dirt poor to begin with if you are crying over $165 dollars.

I can honestly say, for what Vinnie is offering service wise, he should charge more. It is true that you can get them "as-is" from the yard cheaper, but then you still have to check them to make sure they work (and most yards only give you 5 days to bring them back for "credit" not a refund (my experience with them) and then you still have to pay (if you get used rotors) 20-30 bucks to have them turned. You dump out 5-10 bucks for caliper paint (if you want to paint them) and STILL need to have time to do all of this.

And eventually, rotors show surface rust, its normal for all brake rotors. My opinion, the rotors in the pic, are in pretty normal condition.

Another thing, who will offer a 6 month warranty on used parts and actually HONOR the warranty within those 6 months?

I had people that have bought caliper and rotor sets and some of my friends said that I should charge more too. Alot of people that do these Q45 brake installs put the used calipers through alot of abuse. and when you get calipers that are over 10 years old and using DOT 4 or better it is easy to start breaking seals.
I've had friends tell me I should sell them for $190, if I am to offer a warranty. I could be out more money than I payed for them. So far I've been lucky.
