Timing Belt ?
Does the Ka have a timing belt? If so how many miles should you go before replacing one or how long do they tend to last? Its for a DOHC.
no timing belt, timing chain~ Yes. Don't worry about it too much, shouldn't have to be replaced for a while.
Wheres it at? Inside the motor?
yeah pretty much, behind the front cover.
O, the valve cover.
yeah, under it.
its behind the Timing Cover. If you take off the valve cover you'll be able to see the top of it. You really dont need to change it unless it broken. If its making noises (tapping sound) then theres threads on here that tell you how to reduce/stop it.

I just remembered we had trouble with it in our old pathfinder.

it in the trunk. Remove the spare tire, and you'll see it.
actually though....the chains are a lot better than belts, but can be noisy. My car w/ 140k. miles had a very lose chain, so i had it replaced, along with the entire timing set, which includes all the gears that the chain goes on, and the tensioners/guides. On our cars, the chains are not a huge worry. The upper chain guides that are supposed to keep the chain in place ARE a worry though. They can break, and throw a bunch of plastic pieces in your motor.....not good. |

Yeah that WTF'd me too, Weird?!?!?!?!
He was joking. Duh.
Wow......
But i cant here the chain or anything. I just was wondering if i had to spend some money on one or not.
If you dont have any problems....Dont worry about it. Theres no performance gains from buying a new one.
