Took my car in the canyon...

Last night, me and a friend headed to santiago canyon. We both never been there, but i must say, we had a hell of a time. From going through tight corners to cruising down long straights, it was very enjoyable. Coming up the canyon, a WRX understeered right into a ditch. We stopped to see if everything was alright and then headed back down. I think we went through a total of 3 times.

On the way home, me and my friend raced, he has a Jetta GLI thats putting down 220 hp and 230 lb/ft. I've got a chopped intake box, NGK plugs, backyard exhaust. My single cam was right next to him for a good amount of the way, till i hit the speed limiter. (Reminder, we're not in the canyon anymore) I was very proud of how well my Single Cam kept up. And i love the feel of N/A. Maybe i'll get an SR20DE

D : whats the point of the sr then? its made to handle boost, so they keps the displacement down for more revs.

If you want n/a you want mad tq. teh 2.4 of the KA compaired to the 2.0 of the sr wins in tq. So for n/a I think KA wins it.

P.S. Poor WRX : ( I <3 WRX

true, but look at the aftermarket support for the SR. I believe the JDM SR20DE puts out the same as the US KA24 or maybe more.

Does it? I havent looked in to it. I was speculating purely based on displacement numbers : P Perhaps I should research my recomendations before I suggest them.

Nah man, its all good. I'll probably just end up using my single cam anyways. Because i love it. I'll throw the JWT Cam in it. Finish my exhaust w/ header, get the head redone, MAFS w/ SAFC. It will be soo much fun. And buy a CA18 later...

KA makes both more torque and more power than an NA SR. BTW, Santiago is boring. It's a really high speed canyon. My friend go 95-100 without any problems practically the whole way. I personally don't find it too enjoyable. There aren't enough curves. But, whatever floats your boat. PM me your AIM and maybe we can meet up one time.

Whatever captain, i know GMR is a lot more technical, but this was my first time through the canyon. Only thing i've got is Silk Road Coilovers. They held up, but i don't think my tires will.

I say dont spend any money on you single cam motor, just upgrade to a dohc for cheap then build it up. 2.4L NA motor for you. Glad to see your silk roads held up, glad they are "beefy" enought

Does anyone sell KADE's? Or do i have to find one in the junkyard? Will i have to modify the harness from the DOHC?

Meh, you can usually find them around here and there. They are pretty cheap. People that do swaps obviously, have them on hand most of the time. I'd keep an eye out on these forums for one. And about modifying the harness I'm not to sure

Look, I'm not trying to brag or anything. My car's basically stock, so yeah, it's limits are a lot lower than yours becasue of the coilovers. I just prefer downshifting and heel toeing than just gunning it through Santiago. it's a nice road too. Same for some of it's branches. We should meet up sometime and scout out some other more technical areas. My AIM's ArticDragon192. hit me up and we'll go out scouting for other places. BTW, glad to know we have another touge driver

For sure artic. Me and my friend will probably head back up this week or weekend, we want to see what all the other branches are like. I hit the canyon again on the way to my girlfriends, a lot different when its lit up.
