Question Is it the Water Pump?

Alright, I know I have this on another thread but I needed another opinion. When I'm driving my car accelerating I hear a whistleing sound after about 2.5 thousand rpms. The harder the push on the gas the more distinctive it gets. Now when I get home I rev the car at a stand-still, no whisteling I reved it slowly all the way to 4 thousand and a couple quick revs maybe to 5. Sounded great? Someone said its my water pump is this correct. Shall I purchase one based on that or take it to a shop? Please help.

take out the water pump, and check it out yourself.

It's not a hard job, 3 hours max.

take out radiator cap and let thermostat open up. If the fluid is flowing nicely, then i doubt its ur pump..

It can be some type of intake problem, specially if you buy one of those "Ebay intake" things. Try lifting your hood and accelerating it to see where it comes from. Or maybe you put one of those "Trubo sound" things in ur mufler

I have stock intake and stock exhaust systems. And again at a stand still it goes through the rpms just fine no noise, just engine. If its the water pump shouldnt my engine temp be hotter than normal? Well it isnt. When I open the radiator cap what am I looking for? And if you heard this sound what would you check?

Ok whistling at WOT. But no whistling at a stand still no matter how I rev it. What would you guys check for or what would you think it is?

when u open the cap ur looking to see if the fluid is flowing well, but dont open while hot, open cold when car is first started and wait for thermostat to open, once its open then the fluid should start flowing at a stready pace. And yes u should be having heating troubles if it is your waterpump.

May sound stupid but is your car turbo? are you hearing the turbo spool lol?

if it does have a turbo why wouldnt you here it spool while not driving? cause mines spools whenever i rev it, moving or not.

just asking, cuz depending on your turbo and how hard u mash the gas u may not hear it. Cars dont build boost without being under acceleration therefore the sound would be significantly quieter.

Well, I opened the cap. It was kinda hot and I got splatted a bit. OOps. The fluid was visible, didnt look like it was moving, I was just looking under the radiator cap. And for the turbo part, I wish would be my answer. I'm stock N/A. My engine hasnt been running any hotter, well the gauge in my cluster isnt any higher than normal. Any more thoughts?

why would it not build pressure?? of course its not max boost just chilling there and revving it up. but it should build enough boost for you to hear it, or atleast thats my experience.

you need to run the car with the cap open so it can heat up enough for the thermostat to open up, then once the engine is hot u watch the fluid to see if it flows, and yea be careful its hot lol

im not saying ur gona be at full boost but when u rev your car and look at the boost gauge it really doesnt go past 0, and yea u might be able to hear a faint sound but it wouldnt be anything like the sound when ur actually driving the car, only time i really heard my turbo spooling without driving is when i ran open downpipe. but o well thats not his case anyways.

your right,i wasnt saying your wrong, but i guess it depends on what kind of exhaust/turbo combo you are running. i've heard stock turbo's just spinning on some of the cars here with stupid huge exhaust

and as for the hole maybe it would maybe it wouldnt. have you checked? no harm in looking.not saying its there. it could be anything thing under your hood. do you have powersteering? a/c? it could be those makeing the noise. not exactly sure. have you tried to tighten all your belts?
